Best place to stay!! The room was beautiful, cool, and spacious. Excellent food- I really appreciated many gluten free options including a gluten free pasta that I ordered three times it was so tasty. The staff is very kind. My husband was able to order a surprise gluten free cake for my birthday that was delivered to our room with a lovely note right when we came back from a tour.

The common area with restaurants and hammocks is peaceful and the evening light is warm and cozy. One day one of our tours dropped us off and the whole tour group wanted to know more about what this nice place was with beautiful lighting and exterior and if the restaurant is open to non guests (it is).

Edit after reading some other reviews: I'm not sure why people are bringing in big city expectations. If you want a huge breakfast buffet, go to a large hotel in Barreirinhas. There were PLENTY of options for a 4 room boutique hotel. When arriving to a place in a small town, take a look at the size of the kitchen and plan accordingly. Not everything can be quick service. Such a cute hidden gem that has fast WiFi and great breakfast and dinner. Menu is a bit limited if you’re staying multiple nights, but they did suggest other walkable eateries around there. [Do NOT patron Guajiru…I wrote a review on why.]

Selma is such a gracious hostess and although there are only four bungalows, they are spacious with pretty restrooms with outdoor showers. Just beware you may have hopping Froggy friends around the evening time who like to frequent the rooms and restrooms! They are harmless ~

Quintal de Areias is a welcome haven of tranquility right off the gorgeous Lencois Maranhenses national park and a 5 mins walk from Santo Amaro main square.

A far cry from typical resort outfits, this family-run operation established by locals from Maranhao state ticks all boxes.

A cuisine inspired by local products, quaint small but very well equipped accommodation units and a colourful design with a playful coloured set of bottles (including a single fancy blue one) bordering the dining area.
