Taua Hotel & Convention Caete — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Belo Horizonte

No doubt about it, this is a massive hotel. We called it a labyrinth. But they seem to invest in making it better and even bigger. When we were there they were finishing work on two new huge slides which kids will love. And there was some other building work going on. ||Views of the surrounding area are great. Because of the setting of the separate buildings against the hill when you are at the pool you do not feel like the place is massive. ||During high season I would expect this place to be packed and maybe very crowded around the various pools. When we were here it was quiet, except for some conventions (200 police officers!) and school kids. ||Staff (lots of them everywhere) are all very friendly and helpful. Our kids really enjoyed the kids program and staff. Although they did not seem to follow the program all the time so were hard to find sometimes. ||Food was pretty good, lots of choices, although after three days of the same routine I prefer some change. They do have one separate Japanese restaurant (not really what I am looking for in minas gerais), but more a la carte options would be nice. ||We stayed in an older building and the room was outdated and a bit sparse. Two beds, one chair a desk, a tv and a cupboard. Thats about it. But it is not about staying in your room here. But another building has better rooms so choose those if important. ||Brazilians seem to like very hot pools. I prefer to be able to cool down in them but that is only possible in the kids pool with the water castle. ||There is a walking pathway near the tenniscourts. Its not clearly marked (nothing is). Unfortunately no jogging path which seems a shame with such a big plot. If you like to play tennis, bring your own balls! We first got two terrible ones, only after extensive calling around by a persuasive staff member two reasonable others. They have rackets. ||Not sure I would go back but we had an enjoyable 4 days here. Somewhere in between 3 and 4 but because of outside area, food, cleanliness and pleasant staff I...

The taua resort is great, the staff was absolutely wonderful, the accommodation was outstanding and the meal was exquisite! Rated 100 with flying flags! ||Although I have a few disappointments while staying at the resort.||Damaged car: I kindly request that the resort look into the footage of the cameras to see how and possibly who had hit the rental car I was using and it was parked at your garage. I am sending the pictures that hertz had kindly sent to me. The damage was $720 and you can see on the attachment.||Accident: accidents happens and I chose the Taua resort because I wanted to be in an environment that would be prepared to take care of minor health and injuries that may happen. When my friend had the sub laxation and we ran into the doctor's office, I expected to find a person with the skills to put it back in place. A doctor / orthopedic would be helpful. Instead, the manager was kind enough to have a staff drive us to Caeté hospital where after 2 hours and a half no doctor showed up And we had to drive to BH, while my friend endured an excruciating pain for another hour and a half. I had to leave my sick mother with a private nurse whom was hired from 10-2pm and stayed until 5pm instead. I wasted all my day and finally arrived at 8:30pm. By then I was exhausted, hungry and defeated. I just wanted to go home and crawl into bed. ||What I expect as solution:||I am kindly requesting that the damage of the car be reimbursed and if you feel in your heart half of the one night reservation also be reimbursed as I can't take back...

Positives: Staff is friendly, specially the entertainers. The pools are always warm and the big bucket for the kids is very nice. The food is delicious. It's great for the kids, with a lot of actives such as soap soccer. For adults there's also a lot of nice entertainment, such as the silly competitions by the pool and the volleyball game. Negatives: On the reception we were informed that we could have got a 20% discount on reservation if we have mentioned that it was my daughter's birthday. I asked if the discount couldn't be applied now or if we could get a discount for the next time, but it was denied. We found a cockroach in the bedroom, and also ants and mosquitoes. The room finishing is not very good and there are a lot of small problems: the air conditioning is dripping on the room floor, which makes a lot of noise; the shower is a bit clogged, so it gets flooded; the toilet paper holder is loose; the toilet seat is broken; the shower box door doesn't close completely, so the other part of the bathroom gets wet. The drinks are not included, not even water, which is a big drag on the experience. There's a whole in the volleyball court, which is very prone to accidents. The monitors are aware of the problem but it doesn't seem that an action is being taken. The internet connection is unstable and the lights keeps going off, it happened about 6 times...
