Restaurante e Pousada Alto Da Serra — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Caruaru

They clearly don't give a $&%#.

Don't believe the photos of the rooms, the restaurant or the reception. We went because this place had 4.5 stars on Google and we were really surprised; not only was the staff untrained, the owner avoided guests like we were bothering her, the food was horrible and the rooms are overpriced.

The good

1. Great view, and very close to a lot of waterfalls and hikes in the area. We hiked to a small waterfall they have on the property and spent a nice afternoon up there.
2. They have a great firepit and will collect firewood for you, no charge.

The bad

1. The mattress felt like it was made out of cardboard.
2. Other than a TV from the 90's, some drawers and a nightstand, the rooms were completely bare. We sat our bags and luggage on the floor.
3. No soap
4. No minifridge
5. No hammocks

The ugly

1. Breakfast and dinner for 3 days was just reheated food
2. The owner sent us "extra" terms and conditions via Whatsapp after we'd already paid half of the non-refundable amount...

We had an enjoyable stay at the pousada. ||The room is standard and clean with a basic bathroom. At the front there is a spacious patio with a table and chairs overlooking the garden and pool area and the lovely nature in the distance. The location is elevated thus well ventilated and a beautiful view that changes depending on the time of day and weather.||Breakfast was buffet with sufficient variety, they kindly made tapiocas (wasn’t part of the selection) for us as we don’t eat bread. We also had dinner twice from the pousada restaurant which was very good (tasty carne de sol filé mignon).||This is an ideal place as a springboard for nature lovers as the surrounding offers various trails for hiking that start from the pousada itself. If you are into waterfalls it’s a heaven.||Staff was pleasant and friendly making us feel welcome. Will...
