Overall we had a really great time and we will give some specific positives as Gil did a great job of providing a full itinerary. There were also a few things we thought could be improved and so we will list these too. ||Positives:|1. The pantanal tour was excellent and our guide Alex was very knowledgeable and keen to show us as much as possible. The food was also excellent and the accommodation was fine for our needs - very grateful for air conditioning, mosquito nets would make it even better!|2. The snorkel trip in bonito was exceptionally organised by the Rio Sucuri team and they deserve a mention. |3. V.Good value for money - we did so much! ||Negatives:|1. It wasn’t made clear how we would be transported or times for travel. We also didn’t know where we would be staying in bonito. It would perhaps be good if Gil could let the tour group know these things in advance where possible as there is no access to WiFi to confirm details during the tour. |2. We had some concerns about the Bonito element of the trip. We had been told that we would be dropped at the experience hostal by the bus, but instead we arrived in a bus station and were collected by a man and taken to another hostal. He didn’t introduce himself or suggest he was known to you and we could have been getting into anyone’s vehicle in the dark in a town we didn’t know (we confirmed Gil’s whatsapp number with him as a precaution). We felt he could have been more professional in general, did not listen to what we had to say and made continuous mysogynistic remarks. He arranged the cave trip to a different one than we had agreed and paid for and there was no English or Spanish speaking guide as agreed. He did not apologise for this. He did however ensure we arrived at the hostal and were picked up for our transfer. |3. We were very fond of our transfer driver and were pleased to see him for our trip back to Campo Grande, however we had some concerns about whether he had had a break or not since his previous job. He seemed very tired and there were some near misses on the roads at the speeds he was going at. We suspected tiredness may have contributed to them and we wouldn’t want any guests, members of the public or drivers to be put at unnecessary risk that could be avoided with sufficient breaks and reduced speeds. |||Please note this feedback was sent directly to Gil, however we received no response and so also posting to...

Read moreMyself and my boyfriend stayed here on a 2 night/3 day package organised by Gil from Pantanal Discovery. Gil collected us from the bus station, drove us to his hostel where we had a very delicious free breakfast, and then drove us to an ATM (after collecting his wife to drop her off at work - both Gil and his wife were lovely). As other reviews say, we then had a 4+ hour drive in a minivan and then 8km on an open jeep to reach the lodge. We booked a private room and were unsure of what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable with a big shower, air con, wifi and a nice double bed. At night you could hear some creatures who lived in the ceiling scratching around but it was all part of being in the great out doors. On the first day we went kayaking down the river, the second day we went on a jeep safari and walk, followed by tubing down the river and then piranha fishing which was great fun, and on the final day we went on a long boat trip and then climbed the big hill. It seemed well organised and our guide Sandro spoke brilliant English. We saw lots of different birds and animals, caiman, monkeys, otters, capybaras but sadly no jaguar. However, I believe actually seeing them is extremely rare as one guide stated he has seen one jaguar in 14 years. Three meals a day were included and everyone enjoyed them. I'm vegetarian and prior to booking the trip Gil said they could cater for vegetarians. The veggie option on the first night was piranha soup, and on the second night was a fried egg. This was disappointing, but there were delicious fresh salads every day, and rice and beans at lunch and dinner. Drinks were not included but there was a fridge in our room and prior to leaving Campo Grande Gil told us to go to the supermarket and buy our own drinks as it's much cheaper. That said, the delicious caiprinhas at the lodge were only 12 Reals, and beer and water were reasonably priced. Our onward trip to Bonito was not quite as comfortable, in a minibus in the 38 degree heat with aircon that barely worked. However, for the price we paid we were happy with the trip and would recommend staying...
