The Convento do Carmo may have a few faults but the opportunity to sleep with history.....colonial construction, high ceilings, courtyard, balconies, wood floors and staircases, friendly ghosts...in a centuries old former convent should not be missed.||I doubt the the original residents enjoyed A/C and meals served pool side but you can.||If you believe that over consumption is a sin, perhaps you should skip the tasty breakfast. Not to be overwhelmed by the choices presented, it did my best to sample all the delicacies but did not succeed. Give it a try yourself. Afterwards you can swim or take a morning nap. ||Rooms upstairs are larger and more comfortable....at a small increase in cost.||Management responds to problems without delay. Read moreI stayed four nights in all. The pousada is perfectly located in town and is situated in an old convent. Front rooms may be a bit noisier on weekends but it is not too bad. The rooms have AC and fans. They are simple so do not expect luxury. Lunches and dinners are terrific and I have never had a caparinha like the one made here. It is worth visiting Cachoeira...

Staff is nice, but neither polyglot nor very fast. The restaurant is great with very nice staff. Bed linen are are very soft and excellent. Some of the beds have worn-out mattresses and the hotel itself has not been really well maintained over the past years. WLAN works only sometimes in some places and the overall feeling of the interior decoration is rather that of a youth hostel. Still, it has a excellent location and a good price. I continue preferring it to other, newer places, because it...
