When I started looking at this pousada the website included itineraries of the packages available, including a Jaguar safari. By the time I booked, the packages had disappeared. On arrival we were told we could choose 1 activity each day, but the jaguar safari wasn't available. It was charged separately at a cost of almost £400 per person for a half day. Since it was our main reason for going we paid up. We did see jaguar, but of course there are no guarantees and we met someone who didn't.|The rooms were tired and in need of a lick of paint. The air conditioning was efficient and there was a fridge. The bed was comfortable but there was only one very thin pillow each. The towels were wafer thin. The hotel has WiFi but it was temperamental and didn't work in our room which we didn't mind but if it's important to you, request a room close to reception.|The public areas have no air conditioning and at meal times the restaurant was uncomfortably warm, but we were there at the hottest time of year. There were storms on our last night and we were soaked going for dinner because there's an uncovered area between the rooms and the restaurant. Food was OK and plentiful, but there was no atmosphere in the restaurant.|Breakfast, lunch and dinner were included but no drinks, not even water, and they were expensive, so stock up with whatever drinks you need before you go. |There's a pool but only 3 loungers (very uncomfortable with a metal bar that stuck into my back) and...

Difficult review as in very many way this Pousada was very good. Pros: location next to Rio with jetty for canoes and motorboats for trips. The room was spacious, clean with comfy bed and adequate shower. Myriad of birds visit on site with feed stations. We took a private boat trip with Marcus which was outstanding, it lasted a very generous 2 hours and cost 700 reals (about £100). We saw capybara, toucan, kingfishers , storks, caiman and giant otter to name just a few. Marcus would use an oar to maintain the best position for photography. You can have 1 trek and 2 group tours as part of your stay. Cons The food can only be described as awful. The breakfast consists of some stuffed bread and sausage rolls, a jar of Frosties, sliced ham and cheese (not cooled or covered), and a jar of juice. I am not at all a fussy eater but I found it very difficult to find something to eat. Very poor value. The dining area reminded us of a village hall. A lot of the staff appear unenthused about being there. It had very low occupancy when we were there despite it being the height of the season. The management need to pay attention to the maintenance and seriously up their game withe the food and its presentation. We have just moved onto another pousada which actually has a slightly lower daily rate with very high quality food and presentation. For info a large beer is 15 reals (about £2) payable on checkout by card

We stayed at this pousada on a multi-day tour of the Pantanal, with birding being our primary purpose. It was pretty ideal in terms of the location. We arrived close to sundown and the huge tree with jabiru next (see photo) was silhouetted against the sunset. In the morning, we were surrounded by all kids of cool birds right outside our door. We went out by boat on the Rio Claro and had a fabulous morning. The meals were served buffet style, and - while nothing fancy - it was nice to have a variety of choices. The room was a bit cramped and the bathroom was adequate. There was a little fenced patio area off the room, which we didn't have a chance to use because we weren't there long enough. There is a pool but we didn't see anyone using it. It seems like typical eco-lodge style accommodations.

A comida é bem simples.
