Pousada Mirante Floripa — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Florianópolis

Intro to my experience and the hotel description:||||In February 2009, I toured southern Brazil. Upon my question after a hotel at the state owned tourist information centre in the bus terminal of Florianapolis - Brazil, a lady advised to spend my stay on the Santa Catarina island in the town of Praia da Santinho. After arriving on the premise, the owner, he's called "Max" showed me a room, which was seedy und uncleaned for quiet a while. On my question ,whether this was the luxurious room he promides me on the phone, he showed me another room on the top of the hotel/camp. This section of the hotel was clearly newer, but still seemed unclean to me. But nevertheless, I told him to book the room, as the view from the room was beautiful. He told me, that he wanted me to stay in his hotel and that he wanted to offer me a good rate. ||||Costs:||||He asked me for about USD 800, which I found expensive. He then went down to 725 USD for 7 nights and said, that all hotels on the island would charge this price, since it was high season. I agreed and booked the room and he demanded the money. I didn't have that much cash (he didn't accept credit or debit cards) and he drove me to various banks, until he got his money from me. T||||Location:||||The camp/hotel is located on a hill in the town of Praia do Santinho. It's a sleepy town with almost no restaurants and only locals, who work in neighbouring Praia das Ingleses. By the way, I would prefer to go to Praia das Ingleses, as it offers many restaurants and places, you can spend the night. The only reason to go to Santinho is the beach, which is less crowded than Ingleses and is more in its natural state. There are more hotels with attractive rates in Ingleses. ||||"Cleaning" of the room:||||The promised daily cleaning of the room but I was just not done. Only once, the garbage can was cleaned out. The room was full of dead insects on the ground, and white insects, which I never saw before. They were on the walls and especially in my bed. When I asked him about these insects, he just said that they come from outside, although I rarely opened the windows, as it was very hot outside and I didn't want hot air in my room. ||||Fan or ventilator:||||The room lacked a fan or ventilator. Upon my request, he brought a little fan, which was unsufficient for the quite large room. Since the room was located on the roof of the camp, it was very hot in there. I sweat all the time.||||Dangerous dog:||||The owner has two sweet little dogs, but also a Pitbull. Whenever I had to go to my room, I had to pass by this dog, and I was very scared of him. Normally, I like dogs but a Pitbull shouldn't be in an open space of a hotel. ||||The promised Churrascaria(meat restaurant):||||This restaurant just don't exist, there's a very basic kitchen, which is very dingy.||||Swimming-Pool:||||The pool is without exaggeration only about 3 - 4 square meters small. ||||Outlook rom the hotel:||||The hotel is advertising with a nice view. The promised view exists only from 3 rooms. ||||The owner "Max":||||Please be careful with him. He might seem to be charming, but he's an alcoholic. I have seen countless bottles of beer on the backyard of the hotel. And whenever I came back to the hotel, he looked "high" (or druggy...) Strange for someone, who manages a hotel. I honestly didn't feel comfortable when talked with him. ||||My leaving:||||On the forth night, I came back from a restaurant and wanted to go bed and I saw again these strange looking insects. I decided to go to the neighbouring town Praia das Ingleses and to overnight in a clean appartment, which cost me only a third of this hotel. On the fifht day I talked to the cleaning lady about how dirty my room was, but she didn't understand English, so I went to the owner and complained about all bad things of this hotel and eventually left the place, although I had paid for seven nights. He refused to refund the remaining 2 nights. ||||Conclusion:||||Please don't trust right away tourist offices as I did. And compare prices of various hotels, even if it's hot or you're tired from your journey. And don't pay in advance the whole arrangement, it's not a good sign when the hotel asks for the money in advance. If you have any questions about this hotel or South America, please contact me. A place very close to paradise, this would be the definition of the hostel which is one of the most beautiful beaches in Florianópolis, with vegetation on all sides, until breathing becomes easier. The plants give a touch to the rustic cabins, where I stayed in a place away from everything you can think of noise, traffic, horns, sirens.||The community area with barbecue and a full kitchen, was the most used, where is served breakfast, with lots of tropical fruit and assorted breads and juices. With a family, cook and enjoy a TV with friends has never been so cozy, as if at home.||The owner, owns an extreme simplicity and quiet, was always attentive to any problem or solution to appear, he lived with another 3 dogs, 2 york shire and an American (who has not moved right, he was so old), and these were the joy of the general, when returning from the beach, were always there wagging her tail, ready to play.||The hostel made ​​me pretty comfortable and always in touch with nature, so I really enjoyed it and tell everyone who wants to have a good rest, go to Mirante Floripa Surf Camp on the...

Please do not go there! I could describe the owners simply as a thiefts. When I arrived with my family with a previous reservation made (50%) in advance, we found a very dirty and messy place, that it is not what appear in the internet pictures! I decided to not stay there, and the owners forced me to pay 75% of the full price as a "penalty" for decline my reservation with the promise to refund the money if somebody else take the room. I found much better and brand new hotels in Playa dos Ingleses for half of price! Please...
