I gave our tour operators this information and hoped they would reply but after 4 months – nothing - this needs bringing up. ||||||6 went into camp – 4 left after 2 days – they said it was a hell hole.||||This camp (Malocas jungle lodge) needs plenty of TLC to make this place basic. Dirty rooms, beds comfortable but doors didn’t fit in the bedroom to bathroom. You couldn’t lock this door or there was a tatty curtain instead. Toilets, soap dispenser filthy and hygiene not up to date i.e. used toilet paper left in bins for more than a day. .One room had no bed linen and toilets filthy and another the toilet seat was on the floor broken. Half the trips were not offered and they gave a declaration that they would all be done. Bullied to complete money transaction before entering camp. Entered trip via boat in the depth of night – no roof on boat only one torch which the driver had – 1.1/2 hrs – very frighting. Camp not ready for us when we arrived. ||||Caboclos neighbors visit – not authentic there was 1 man eating sardines and rice no children no other people ||Evenings around the camp fire – only one bench enough for two people waste of time.Birds observation at sunrise. Never mentioned at all Survival night – we were told to sit on a log and were never asked to help build shelter different to what was promised. Guide went back camp when 2 of us went into the jungle experience - he said he would be 5 mins and came back 1 hour later – felt unsafe not acceptable due to safety – we had no idea how to get back to camp in an emergency. Dinner and night on a beach or a caboclos house never materialised.. Part of the group didn’t see the the meeting of the water and Manaus. Part of the group didn’t see the dolphins ||||This quote was put at the bottom of the agenda : Your guide can switch the order of the activities depending on the weather conditions and also on your physical shape. We guarantee you that every activity will be done though. – never materialised ||||No welcoming drink like other parties received even after 8 hours travelling. No candle holders – (until I asked for them) unsafe you just had to just push candles into wax when there are properties like mosquito nets around.||||Yohan said to me he was scared out group were going to ‘slate’ him on Trip Advisor and they could ‘close down’ it down.||||It stated you had to leave the key so that they could service the room – did everyone do this – I doubt it!!||||No one in camp 24/7 that could speak English what would happen and who could we contact if there was an emergency i.e. fire, illness etc.||||Sinks in two rooms broken – botched up with brown sealant not acceptable||||Waste paper in rooms with loo paper in it not emptied daily – important||||The food was lovely cooked by Marie but the rest of the staff seemed to be lying in hammocks enjoying life||||I help take these sort of trips - if Malocas had replied to our comments I am sure it could have been settled from both sides but they never replied back to us and they had plenty of time to give there side...
Read moreThe location was gorgeous, you could breath peace everywhere! Not having electricity gave a plus of relax, a deeper connection with nature, that was what i was looking for, going to such a remote place. The staff was wonderful, from Maria the cook and her delightful dishes cooked with such basic ingredients yet incredible taste, to the guides Reimundo and Marcos who were helping achieve every activity following the rhythms of the jungle. The guides took us on a canoe to live the amazonian sunrise, even though it was not in the plan. On top of this, Marinilda was an incredible host, before, during and after our trip to Malocas. She helped us with every doubt or issue that we had, always friendly, helpful and smiling. All the relevant information was clearly explained in the email exchanges with Marinilda and the overall organization was very careful and well-thought.||||The accommodation was designed as a Maloca, which I found interesting and fascinating for its strong symbolic meaning. The rooms are arranged in a circle, with the beds on the exterior. From the beds it was possible to see the night sky and when we were there the moon was lighting our nights.||||The lodge was prepared and clean when we arrived and every day after the morning activities. The common areas were always welcoming and inviting: you could always get fresh fruits and water, There was the opportunity of bringing and keeping in the fridge your own food, although we did not need it.||||The daily planning was to wake up to have relaxed breakfast, followed by the first excursion. Back to the lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon there was the second excursion and then there was time to refresh and prepare for dinner: the walk from the rooms to the dining areas was lit by torches, immersed in the sounds of the jungle. At night, there was a fire that created a magical atmosphere.||||We visited three different ecosystems in three days: they really felt like different worlds! On the hikes we were also able to swim in rivers and waterfall: such a refreshing experience! The native guide, Reimundo, took us to the place where he lives, offering us all sorts of exotic, tasteful and surprising fruit picked from the trees.||||I am very happy with my choice and I recommend this place full-heartedly: it was an...
Read moreI didi write many many e-mail and ask clearly that, will I have a english speaking guide, answers was allways yes. I came all the way from Finland, send again mails the last 3 days from the way to Manaus, only one answer but no any mentioned about any problem. But at the pick-up morning from the hotel, they say that, sorry we don't have english speaking guide!!!!! And they did not mention it even few days ago that I can look for something else! The reason for not having english speaking guide was 1) they have guide but I will not be safe with him in the jungle!!!!!! Why you even have one if it's not safe for clients. 2) The indigenous guide say that his family is sick... halloooo, the problem is english speaking guide, not the indigenous guide. I am shure that they new that they can not organise me, a solo traveller, english speaking guide, but yet they did promise. After all, she told me that they don't have guide, she say, " ok, let's go"!!! They did try till the end If I come to the jungle.|She did start the conversation also like this that, "you wonder to go deep to the jungle, but you know, it's difficult", I said to my self, here we go, she will try to reduce the program, and after I say that that will be my 5th jungle experience, she stop the conversation. She also say that, they can not organise the river boat, because it's dry, but after 3 minutes, she forgat what she sad, and tell that, this is very beutiful river near the lodge, and still have water!!!|So, it's...
