This pousada is really magnificently situated. It is set against a hill in its own park-like garden with large pond and is beautifully landscaped. We could only find two (slight) downsides to this lovely establishement: it may be a little difficult to find (if you have no GPS, because with is isn't too difficult at all) and it is not very wheelchair friendly (bu then not many places in Brazil are). For the rest, there are only upsides. As mentioned, the lovely setting. Then there is the staff, who are all very friendly and helpful. They are only Portuguese speaking as far as I know. The owner, a Brazilian of Swiss descent, is a friendly guy who speaks German. Check in was easy and our luggage was carried to our chalet. We had a luxo, which has a sitting area with fireplace and a large comfortable bed. It is all very clean, but maybe the decor in bed and bathroom is a little dated. We thought it was quite private and there is plenty of space in between of the chalets. Wifi is available in the rooms for free. The pool area is fantastic. It is a little elevated and offers great views and long sun hours. There are chairs and tables and sun beds with towels. There is also a shower and a jacuzzi and a sauna.||The restaurant has a fireplace for those colder evenings (the elevation makes that it can be nippy at night) and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner.||Breakfast was served when we were there, so no buffet. It offered granola and yoghurt, fresh fruits, breads and rolls, cheeses and deli meats. Teas and coffee are available as well as lovely juice. The lady who served our breakfast was really kind.||Lunch and dinner menus offer an excellent selection of all sorts of dishes. Signature dishes are their trouts, shrimp and fondues. We had the meat fondue which was excellent quality meat with 8 delishes sauces, rosti potatoes and salad. An excellent meal. Nova Friburgo itself wasn't too interesting, we thought, but Auberge Suisse is certainly worth visiting for...
Read moreGreat location. Amazing landscaping. Clean and very well built chalets. The food was outstanding. Fresh, big portions and much care taken in preparation. Two people can easily share meals. All the dairy and fruit with breakfast was same day fresh. Staff was very kind and helpful. We were there as a family and you could really tell that this place was better suited for couples but the staff did their best to accommodate us. The kids loved the animals they had ducks, geese, rabbits, donkeys, cows, chickens, a turkey and fish in the pond (a plenty of stale bread from the kitchen) but also the wildlife was great (lizards, birds, butterflies, centipedes, caterpillars). They also had a nice playground and pools (indoor and outdoor). We wanted a quiet place to spend New Year's Eve and we hit...
Read moreThe owners Urs and Yvonne are very nice and friendly. The food in the restaurant is very good, specially the Raclette and Cheese Fondue. The Chalets are very nice, depends which you rent. We rented number 9 “VIP” and number “10” a Chalet Master. The chalets are very clean and spacious.|||| If you go in Wintertime, be aware it could be a little bit cold, but with the fire place you can heat a little bit. The breakfast is good, there is no buffet in the morning, but they serve you almost everything you want. The workers of Auberge Suisse are very friendly and very educated “Swiss Style”. Don’t forget, the Voltagem is 220V in all...
