Pousada Waikyru — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Parintins

The pousada is located just behind the beach (when the river is low), and is well located for bars/restaurants. The accomodation is a series of separate cabins, each built using local materials but well equipped with air conditioning, comfortable beds (built by the owner), and en suite bathrooms (showers only). The breakfast is fresh and always includes juices of local fruits (that you probably haven´t tasted before!) and freshly baked bread. The owner, senhor Lucca, is an italian that moved to Maués some years ago. Along the years he amassed an impressive knowledge about the local culture. He will gladly tell you what is the best wood oil to treat your mosquito bites, which local fruit has the highest level of vitamin C and the best trips in the region. Getting to Maues is a great experience in itself. The best option is to travel by one of the "barcos regionais" (boat). Buy your ticket in Manaus at the main port, arrive early to guarantee your place in the boat, set up your hammock (bring one along - otherwise you will sleep on the floor!) and prepare yourself for a night on the river. When you wake up in the morning you will be in an amazing and still untouched part of our planet. Just sit and watch the "ribeirinhos" (people that live by the river), the unbeliveable nature and the river dolphins (botos) playing around the boat. If you are in Manaus, this is a great option for a short trip, but remember that nothing happens fast in the Amazon and to check...

Sem palavras. A pousada é ótima, pelo que conversei com algumas pessoas, uma das melhores da cidade. Fica próximo a orla, restaurantes e da praia que se forma quando o nível do rio cai. Eu seria injusta ao falar da funcionária da pousada, simplesmente não posso descrever a hospitalidade e a gentileza do povo de Maués. O café da manhã é simples e muito gostoso. A pousada é extremamente silenciosa, estranhei porque não possui recepção, mas é assim mesmo. Você se sente em casa. Certo que voltarei....
