Pousada Paraíso — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Petrópolis

Let me just make a quick overview if you ever decide to visit this wonderful place.||||Transportation:||Venture and take public transportation. I stayed in Ipanema for a couple of days, then took a cab to the bus station before heading to Petropolis. Not many people speak English but it is way cheaper than taking a cab all the way to the Pousada. Renting a car may be an option but drivers tend to be a bit aggressive compare to the US. Make sure you let Mariana know. She will be able to get you a cab from the bus station in Petropolis. I took a regular cab and it was double the price.||Food: ||Breakfast is included with your reservation. They have a good variarity and it is pretty good. Lunch and dinner are not included but you are better off eating at the pousada since there are not nearby restaurants or grocery stores. Brazilians prefer their meals full of flavor. It may be too salty or too sweet for your taste. I found this to be true in the city as well. Dinner at their little restaurant is a very pleasant experience. ||Cabins:||The little cabins are comfortable and private. Some have jacuzzis, a little chimney, and a great view. Be aware that you will be staying very close to the mountains and forest. Therefore, there will be a lot of insects around. You shouldn't mind. It is perfectly normal and expected.||What to do:||They have hiking trails, birdwatching tour, natural swimming pool, river, tennis court, and lots of nature. I went solo since I was looking for a secluded place to relax, and it worked out perfectly. ||Management and staff:||They are just excellent. They always have a great smile when you approach them. We spent 3 wonderful nights here in a delightful,l comfortable cottage set amidst the beautiful rain forest. Our host, Bernardo Lacombe who is a member of the family who own the pousada is more than a genial host. Bernardo is a chef par excellence, an excellent bird guide and an amazing drum player! The pousada is truly luxurious with the restaurant being the most romantic one we have had the pleasure to dine during our time in Brazil. Bernardo's menu is extensive using local quality ingredients. He produces fabulous meals. Bernardo took us birding along the trails he has made through the forest surrounding the pousada. Bernardo is an expert in finding birds and we saw endemic species amongst a plethora of others. We were fortunate that on one evening Bernardo gave us a rendition of his drumming skills, gosh it really was a super experience. The pousada caters not just for birdwatchers but for anyone who wishes to have complete relaxation in amazing surroundings or those who wish to play sports, archery, swim, play snooker/billiards, take an art course, volley ball, walking, putting, reading or just chilling. Vi e ouvi sobre a pousada devido compartilhamento de amigos em rede social. Escolhi a mesma para comemorar meu aniversário de 40 anos. A pousada é simplesmente maravilhosa e perfeita! É um lugar para descansar, relaxar, desligar, desintoxicar, desestressar, se encontrar .... O que mais gostei de tudo é no restante onde jantamos, magicamente o Wi-Fi não funciona kkkkk. Quanto tempo meu esposo não tinha se visto obrigado a me dar 100% de atenção kkkkk. O local é romântico, com luz ambiente, velas. Comemos uma pizza que estava pra mim a melhor do mundo. Os funcionários muito atenciosos, todos, sem exceção. Os quartos muito amplos, a cama enorme, a limpeza impecável. A comida muito gostosa no almoço, tudo frequento e de qualidade. O contato com os animais, as plantações de hortaliças e tantos pés de frutas. O barulho da cachoeira. Ficaram marcadas tantas sensações, memórias afetivas. Voltaria a pousada novamente?! Com certeza sim e pra ficar mais dias. Informações que eu gostaria de ter encontrado na Internet para me programar melhor. Primeiro: o caminho até chegar na pousada é muito ruim em um determinado ponto. A pousada me passou as informações que eu deveria seguir, usar o Wase e colocar o nome da pousada e não o endereço, escolher o caminho com a descrição BR 040 Rodovia Washington Luiz Pedro do Rio-BR 134 Est. União Industria ( Posse ). Isso eu saindo do RJ. Coloquei tb no Google Maps e achei que foi mais preciso que o Wase. Qdo vc passa pelo Castelo de Itaipava pode manter sua direita e assim que ver a placa de Pedágio diminuir bastante a velocidade, para uns 30km para não perder a entrada que nem tem placa, mas o GPS manda entrar. A partir daí a rua fica estreita. Pra chegar na pousada, é só subida. Existe um determinado caminha que é chão de barro, se não tiver um carro com pneu que aguente, melhor evitar dias chuvosos. Inclusive a maioria das atrações são em área externa, creio que num dia chuvoso não seja legal ficar no local. Segundo: existe 3 tipos de trilha, com duração de 1 hora ( fiz essa, que é uma volta pela própria pousada) dá pra fazer sozinho, mas a pousada disponibiliza um guia saindo às 10hs todos os dias. Tem outra de 2hs e uma última de 4hs( esta fui informada que necessita guia, devido nível de dificuldade, tendo que marcar e saindo às 8hs ) Terceiro: o almoço é 70 reais por pessoa e vc pode comer à vontade, não está incluso bebida. Se costuma jantar, se programe para gastar uns 140 tb na janta. Quarto: comer fora, principalmente a noite não me pareceu uma opção, devido a distância. Se a intenção é badalação ou curtir o dia pra aproveitar a noite, lá tb não é um lugar para este tipo de programa. Por fim, espero voltar muitas outras vezes. Pq o lugar todo em si parece...
