The architecture and the decoration of this hotel are INCREDIBLE. Really worth a visit. The lounges are charming. Rooms are not large, but good. The staff, though small, is helpful and kind. The swimming pool is beautiful, super clean and heated (see photo); we did not have the opportunity to use it, because the days we spent there were rainy. In a sunshine day it could be great. However, after breakfast, the hotel doesn’t provide any kind of food or drink, except for the items in the minibar. Not in the pool nor in any other place. Guests are allowed to ask for delivery (there are many options in the city), but not in the swimming pool area (see photo). So, if you think about spending the day in their beautiful pool, be prepared to enjoy the sun and the water only.|The Sinha Olimpia is close to the historical part of the city. Not waking distance, but close. Ouro Preto has a very good and fast taxi service.|If your intention is to rest in a charming atmosphere, reading and hearing good classical music, this is the place. If you like to have good food, a drink and a good service, it is not. It depends on the intention...
Read moreMy wife and I spent carnaval at the Sinhá Olimpia in Ouro Preto. We liked the historic character (charm) of the hotel, the number of games (chess, checkers, chinese checkers...), the small swimming pool and the breakfast every morning. ||||The downsides would be that the wifi almost never seemed to work, the in room televisions offer very few channels and hallway sounds flood into the rooms too easily. ||||The hotel is located a long walk (roughly 30 minutes) from the historical core. The hotel provides free one-way rides to to downtown but only during certain hours. Mondays seem to be the day the driver does not work.||||The hotel offers free parking in the back. The lot is large but has lots of columns to navigate around. ||||During carnaval, prices greatly inflate for rooms in Ouro Preto. For that reason, my exxpectations...
Read moreA very pleasant, calm place on the edge of town. Friendly people and many plus sides, including a good room, pleasant surroundings and although a little way out of town you can ask them to drive you in for free. I thought that was a super gesture - taxi back c 20 reais or c 7 USD.||Also - and this is often a big drawback in Brazil (and Japan I have noticed): We took a night bus from Rio and they allowed us into the room at c 8:20 a.m. Often, you have to wait until around 1400. We also ate there twice - conveniente ahead of night bus back - and very good and decently-priced too. Technical note: WIFI worked for us no problem. Senhor Garcia just down the road a super pharmacist-cum-GP if you need one. (Our little one was sick...
