To begin my review I will look at getting to the pousada.|The closest major airport is Belo Horizonte we were travelling with family so it was simple but you can hire a car from the airport.|It is approximately a 4-5 hour drive from the airport with the last 16km or so being on dirt roads off the main asphalt road you follow the signs for the Cachoiera de Tabuliera and you will eventually arrive at a collection of about 6 or so houses one being the Pousada da Gameilera.|On our arrival Samuel was not there but had gone into the local town to collect supplies and do some banking. My suggestion would be that Samuel request an estimated time of arrival from the guests and if he is unable to be present when guests arrive there should be someone there to meet and greet that is thoroughly conversant with everything this point of contact with customers especially new ones is very important and can set the tone for the rest of the visit also he should let customers know if he is going to be late or unavailable as he would have the contact details. On our arrival the people cleaning were very kind to try and help us by letting us into rooms and preparing food for us unfortunately it wasn't clearly explained that each lasagne was for 2 people and unfortunately we ended up paying for more than we needed I feel that Samuel should have at least given us some discount in this case.|As you can see from the many photos on the site it is a very rustic looking place with plants growing everywhere, you have to keep in mind that you are out in the country so things are pretty laid back.|We had the very first room as you come through the main gate it was clean simple all wood furniture a bit small but good enough as it is only for resting in presumably you would be outdoors most of the time exploring the countryside!!!|There were towels laid out nicely for us on the bed and we found the bed very comfortable. We paid 240 reals for the 1 night stay and this room is considered a triple. The shower had a curtain which is good to see the shower is a bit fiddly to work you need to carefully turn on the small chrome tap first which is the hot water then adjust the temperature with the cold water tap on the wall it did take a bit of time to get it right but we got it in the end I would suggest something a bit simpler as a system as we ended up having to all have a shower one after the other keeping the shower on as it would be too difficult to keep turning it on and off between people.|The small fridge in the room is just that it was empty which was useful to keep things cool.|It wasn't a great problem but the TV did not work in our room and the coat hook on the wall had a couple of pegs broken.|Samuel himself was very knowledgeable about the local nature and history both natural and cultural and also was able to hold interesting conversations on a wide breadth of topics he very kindly talked us through how the pousada got its name which I will let you find out about from your visit!|It was great that there was strong WiFi available throughout but for some reason Samuel would not give us the code he insisted on connecting all the devices to the WiFi!?|Breakfast is served from 8 am it consists of a collection of baked foods made at the pousada also some fruits which admittedly could have been a bit more generous the slices of fruit were a bit too thin!! It also would have been nice if he just passed by the table and asked us how the food was! No granola as mentioned on the website also knowing that some of our party was vegetarian it would have been nice if he had some Soya milk available only normal milk was available.|We only took one tour which was to the Tabuliera waterfall that was 45 reals per person which isn't too bad again he did share a lot of his knowledge with us as we went through the tour patiently helping one of our party who wasn't as able I would say that it was worth it for the price I will cover this in a separate review.|Overall an enjoyable stay just a few things I would like to point out.|I have seen several people requesting prices for stays and I don't understand why these are not given on the website also prices for the tours this makes it much easier for people to budget for their trip and compare it also makes everything transparent may I suggest that Samuel do just that?|Also there is no mention of certain things relating to payment|1. There is a 10% service charge added to your bill at the end.|2. Credit card payments are accepted but at a 6 % charge.|All the methods of payments that are accepted should be listed with the terms and conditions.|Again it is important that these things are clearly pointed out on the website, to be honest we weren't very pleased about this.|I would recommend this place to stay but with the recommendations that I have made to be implemented.|I hope this review was useful if anyone has any further questions I would be happy to answer them if...
