Casa De Hilton — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata do Recife

We stayed at Pousada & Albergue Casa De Hilton and ended up returning because of the comfortable and relaxed ambience, good prices and delicious breakfast.(scrambled eggs with tomato, onion, coriander, cous cous salad, fried coelho cheese, cheese toasts, tapioka, boiled maniok sandwiches of differents sorts, pudding, awesome cakes, fresh fruit, fruit salad, smoothies, coffee, juice and one time also a really nice hot chocolate) The location in the historical center of beautiful Olinda is perfect and busses going to Recife is just around the corner. The beach just 200 meters away is not the best for swimming, but a 20 minute walk or short trip by bus (3 km) will take you to a beautiful beach called Casa Caiada. In this part of town there are also more shopping possibilities if you are looking for clothes shops, supermarkets, farmacies etc.||At the pousada you have free access to the kitchen and there is wifi in both rooms and common areas. They also provide towels and of course bed sheets. You can pay for your stay by credit or debit card and both Jose, the owner, and Promethea who takes care that everything is running smoooth at the hostel, are the most sympathetic and helpful people I have met so far in Brazil. It felt very comfortable to stay with them and we got a lot of good tips on what to do and where to go. Friday nights around 22 is a small parade of local musicians going through the old town playing different traditional music, its great atmosphere and definately worth following:) ||So: Whether travelling as a large group, single or a couple, -if you treasure friendly honest people, relaxed atmosphere, good breakfast and great location this is the place ||I know I am definately...

We found this Pousada pretty odd...when we arrived it took a while for anyone to let us in, when they finally did we were pointed to our room and given no welcome whatsoever: no mention of things to do, times for breakfast, if there was WiFi etc.||||The room itself was fine and pretty clean but there were no towels which the booking said we would have.||||The staff were incredibly noisy, shouting to one another constantly (and needlessly) and waking us up in the morning at 7am with their howls... they were also at times rude, standing and blocking the gate completely ignoring our presence when we were trying to leave.||||We had read the breakfast was good but in our experience it was very limited and on our first day in particular there was not enough for all the guests. The area is General was also not very clean and there was loads of rubbish in the garden area.||||No one spoke to us the whole time we were there or really acknowledged our existence. It was very odd indeed.||||Perhaps it is different in the summer but we felt there was no customer service. We saw lots of nice looking Posadas as we wandered the old town and wished we had made a different choice. I suggest you...

Pros||- you could pay by credit card!||- the breakfast was excellent and varied - not sure what half of it was as it was definitely a Brasilian breakfast but it was all delicous especially the porridge type thingy with cinnamon||- nice triple room with large, clean, private bathroom including towels... we paid only for a fan (not AC) and that was fine for us||- Promethea was super helpful and spoke beautiful english||- good location for the buses around Recife and Olinda and close to the main square and historic area in Olinda||- kitchen was well equipped||- hostel was secure and the front door was always securely locked||- pet tortoises :-)||||Cons||- you could hear the bars nearby in the evening but it never really kept us awake||- wifi didn´t...
