We came to Campos do Jordao during the peak winter season, but from Sunday through Tuesday. Needless to say, the town did not have the large influx of Paulistas that can be expected during a Friday and Saturday. However, the town was quite active despite the days. ||||We wanted a location that was within walking distance from the main strip and found Pousada das Hortensias through a travel search engine. We arrived to find the hotel in great condition, about 600 meters away from the main strip up a hill. The view from our balcony was excellent as it overlooked the various mountain ranges and town. The staff was very helpful and made is right at home. Upon check-in, we were greeted with afternoon tea and snacks -- all complimentary. The room itself was very nice but got a little chilly at night (only a space heater was available). There was also some construction nearby that started at 9am which woke us up. The bathroom was completely modernized, but our shower did leak which was unfortunate. Breakfast in the morning was complimentary and consisted on the usual Brazilian cured meats, cheeses and pastries. There were also some watery scrambled eggs which we avoided. The other very nice amenity of the hotel was the upstairs game room. This room had free pool, darts, and other board games. There was "gym" up there as well, but not very good.||||Overall, the stay in Campos was excellent and the hotel served its purposes. Being only $107 per night, it is tough to have any complaints. While it was certainly not the Westin or the JW Marriott in terms of amenities, it offered a great homely atmosphere in a great location and at a...
Read moreThe hotel is clean, but that's it. The drain in the shower would not allow the water to flow. The mattress has holes. We only had one blank in the first night and it was really cold. It is not close to anything. We had a problem in the hotel, and when reported it to the reception and manager, instead of trying to solve iit, they turned against us and our room was never again cleaned. They said a lot of untrue things about our registrarion and when we requested the tapes, they would not show them. I don't think they even have them. We had to go to the police station to complain about them. Not...
