Situated in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, known as one of the world’s best sailing destinations, Saba Rock houses a hotel, restaurant & bar & a full-service marina. Boats can ferry from the surrounding islands and back. Plenty of seating both on the first floor and the second floor, of which a billiards table can be had for anyone to play. There is a TV that plays current sports games, too. Downstairs there is a gift shop for your souvenirs across from the aquarium and the restaurant. Renovated after the hurricane that destroyed it in 2017, the “new” Saba Rock is a place like no other. It is a captivating sight at night surrounded by the glittering lights of all the boats on the water and the stars in the sky. The rooms are great with views facing Virgin Gorda. The room I was in was clean and tastefully decorated. Bathroom was outfitted with 2 shower heads, 2 sinks, and the toilet was separated with a sliding door. Love the sailing motif, with surfboards as headboards for the king bed. It’s vintage style mini-fridge is kitschy, chic and wonderfully complimented the decor. Behind the TV is a wall adorned with photographs of Saba Rock, kinda made it less commercial in my opinion. Had some of the items on the menu. They werent the most delicious things I thought & expected of this unusually incredible place in the midst of this gorgeous surroundings, ergo one star knocked off, but they werent bad either. Service was courteous and quick. Jason was most helpful! Kudos! Hope to be back here again. Pretty cool place...
Read moreI make a point to bring clients here by sailing yacht as it is an extraordinary resort. Very well designed and built. There is a boutique store and restaurant on the first level and a bar and large lounge area with a pool table upstairs. No fourth wall, so you get a great view out at the Sound. You can walk around the back side of the island where is it much quieter and sit at the small beach or grass area. Two hammocks and several Adirondack chairs are available for use.
The bar offers a good variety of beverages with something for everyone. You can order bar food or lunch or dinner at the restaurant downstairs. I've had their catch of the day dinners (snapper or mahi or tuna). It's very tasty grilled or in a bouillabaisse (verrry delicious!). The beet salad and fresh bread (served with herb butter) are wonderful. And I'm not much of a dessert person but the other night we all shared a key lime pie, and I have to say it was superb. Not too tart, and the toasted meringue was divine.
This place is certainly worth a stop if you're considering it by boat. I haven't stayed in any of the rooms, but I have no doubt it is nice. During the high season, at around 16:30 they feed the tarpon in the water right in front of the docks. Kids really enjoy...
Read moreWe were lucky enough to dine twice at Saba Rock during our two weeks sailing holiday. Once for lunch and once for dinner.
Lenux was our server for lunch and was both warm and attentive, we opted to share a range of dishes between the 8 of us, the food was good, cocktails excellent and the setting/service quite special.
Also worth mentioning they feed the tarpon at 5pm most days which is an entertaining 10 minutes.
A few days later we returned for dinner. The place comes alive at night, with the lighting and decorations perfect for the setting. Ciro was our host and truly made our evening most memorable, helping with our food selections. I was slightly apprehensive the food would not live up to the setting reading previous reviews, however apparently they have a new head chef who joined two weeks ago. He has already put his own spin on dishes and in a couple of weeks they will be releasing a new menu. We had four different dishes, steak, lamb, tortellini and snapper. All fantastic.
We would highly recommend Saba rock. A more polished place than most in BVI which is a nice change from the likes of Foxy’s & Sidney’s which are equally as incredible for...
