We were booked in the Svatovete hotel because we were keen to see Apriltsi and the Central Balkan. Our fist choice was "Par Avion" Hotel but it was closed and this hotel might have been closed too! The hotel itself is a nice medium size construction in the Bulgarian revival style, it is in the center of the village and has a little car park in front of the entrance, so far so good. But when we entered the little reception area and checked in we realised that something was not entirely right, the place looked completely empty and deserted. There was a nice lady at the reception, who seemed like a caretaker and who didn't speak any foreign language so communication was very difficult. It was lunchtime and when we asked about the restaurant it seems to be a problem. We were shown to a nice restaurant room decorated like a tavern but also completely empty, there was no waiters and apparently nobody to cook. It was all quite strange atmosphere. We took our luggage to a simple room, neat, with a balcony overlooking the mountain but by now we were quite hungry after a drive longer than what we expected, not the two and a half hours we thought but a good three hours. We were pleasantly surprised that the roads were well cleaned despite the heavy snow. No lunch was forthcoming and it was agreed that somebody would come at eight a clock to prepare dinner. We had a drive around the area but there were no cafes or little restaurants. We passed near Par Avion hotel which was closed, the all town looked deserted. The views on the mountains were majestic, the nature beautiful but too many abandoned houses falling apart, some half built and left. We decided that it was better to come back to Sofia before nightfall as I was not comfortable with the hotel arrangement. We thought Apriltsi was a mountain resort and that the season would be in the winter but it looked...
Read moreThis is the country house you wish your family had — rustic, traditional and charming, but also clean, comfortable, and convenient! ||||It's a gorgeous setting with idyllic mountain views, a lovely pool (including a shallow kids' pool), a pretty garden where the children can run around and play on swings and slides, and a picturesque, open-air tavern where you can sit and drink or eat while enjoying the view (or while the kids play/swim nearby). ||||The rooms are spacious, clean, and beautifully appointed — everything is new and comfortable, but with rustic charm. The large balconies have chairs where you can drink wine or coffee with a view over the mountains and the property. Parking is easy; there's a farm across the street and restaurants in town, but the getaway is so ideal for families, ours never left...
Read moreI visited Svatovete as part of a group with children being on a chess tournament held in Aprilci. We spent 5 days at Svatovete. We were big group with 15 children, occupying every hotel room. ||||We faced a really bad attitude from the owner/manager or the boss, not sure about his status, towards the children. He yelled at them and us and insulted us in a most ugly manner. ||||Although there is a playground within the hotel, there was forbidden for the children to run, laugh and play.|| ||Some of the rooms were nice, but others were really dark and depressing.||||The pool's water was kind of oily, it smelled on dirt, rather than chloride, as every other pool. The children enjoyed it, but even after bath, their skins smelt not good. I never got...
