Hotel Nikol - Dolna Banya — Hotel in Dolna Bania

Let me start by saying that we where looking for a restaurant in the region, and stumbled upon this beautiful website of the hotel restaurant Nikol. ||I am not a snob, but as a Frenchman I do enjoy a well prepared meal. ||It doesn't need to be high cuisine, but just something well made.||||I never stayed at the place, so I couldn't give a proper opinion. ||I just went to the restaurant, and it was a horrible experience. ||The place was nearly empty but we got seat at a table next to a student group that was playing on laptops, playing loud music and singing. ||The table cloth was dirty and had stains all over it. ||The numerous flies did not leave us alone either. ||||The website say's: ||Salads: In the restaurant Nikol all the vegetables are carefully picked and you can try our home made bio quail eggs. ||||So naturally we had to try it. ||What we got was a salad, consisting of tomatoes, cucumbers, canned mushrooms, onions and white cheese and instead of the quail eggs we got overcooked chicken eggs (but we got charged for it like it was quail eggs). ||||Lets move on, we decided to try to famous meat dish that the website describes as: ||The meat in our restaurant is with guaranteed origins, and is always cooked fresh on the order. ||I got the pork stake with a demi glace sauce and mashed potatoes. ||The meat was frozen, poorly cooked, no spices or seasoning what so ever. ||The mash was bland and lumpy. ||||I also got the Spicy Barbecue chicken wings. ||The wings where frozen, cooked in lots of oil, without a hint of seasoning or spiciness. They were looking disgusting. ||||My wife had the fish chips with lemon sauce. ||The dish was frozen fish sticks from the cheapest quality you can get in a supermarket, and the sauce didn't even have a hint of lemon (it was oil with some copper), needless to say it was disgusting. ||||We where not brave enough to attempt the desserts. ||||For 4 dishes with 2 cokes and 2 local digestives we paid 25 euro. ||Personally I will never return to this place, and will never recommend it to any of my friends or relatives, it doesn't have a good kitchen or even a decent front of house and atmosphere....

Triple room is advertised with Mountain view but it was on the first floor on the opposite side of the hotel, with parking view (they say all such rooms are on this side so the adv. is a lie)||It was advertised inside swimming pool but it is not a pool but a jacuzzi (another lie)||I booked with an option for annulation but from the hotel asked me to pay 50 % advance 3 days before my annulation time to expire||We were accommodated with an hour delay - at 15.00 h. and we need to wait with the child.||I had a special request for a quiet room but the room we were accommodated in was the noisiest one - on a step from the restaurant and terrible noise from the kitchen elevator (kitchen is on one level below the restaurant), with parking under the balcony and on the corner where the people goes inside the hotel.||I haven't received any discount or compensation. ||The hotel is in the middle of nothing. There is no other restaurants or landmark on a walking distance. The restaurant in the hotel is quite an expensive.||The price is really high for thе room and service...

Great place! Nice view towards the mountains. We liked the room, comfortable bed and quiet too, in the winter the room was warm and cozy.

Clean bathroom, enough space. The staff was attentive and responsive. The manager was responsible, a good man.

Serving food in the restaurant was swift, good service and everybody smiling. The food is tasty!

The SPA is well maintained, sauna, steam room and inside warm pool. Good access to the outside pool, which is also warm. Decent size of the outside pool, we liked it a lot! There are new sunbeds around it. The pool facilities and the water were crystal clear and clean.

There is a nice lawn for walking around barefoot, also very neat. There are some activities for children - a slide, a trampoline etc.

The parking lot of the hotel is big, there is also space for caravans and motorhomes. The street from the main road to the hotel is illuminated okay.

In the winter the sun rises and sets shining on the outside pool area - it's beautiful!
