Lavanda Bed&Breakfast — Hotel in Garmen

My partner and I recently spent two nights at Lavanda Restaurant with Rooms in Kovachevitsa, and it was a truly memorable experience.

We stayed in the Lavender Room, which was spacious and had a very comfortable bed (you can choose the type of pillows!). The village is absolutely quiet at night. The room provided all the amenities we needed, and the house’s ambience was charming, with a lovely courtyard to lounge in and a cozy winter garden for cooler days.

Breakfasts were delightful, offering mekitzi and pancakes with homemade jams, as well as scrambled eggs with herbs and sudjuk—all made with locally sourced ingredients that were very tasty. We also enjoyed a dinner featuring dishes like a salad with tomatoes, grilled eggplant, and cheese. For the main course, we had sausages and a quiche with zucchini and wild mushrooms. For dessert, we enjoyed chocolate cake and walnut digestive.

Our host, Boyko, took great care of us and made us feel at home with his hospitality.

The village itself is beautifully maintained, with plenty of hiking options, and showcases a traditional Bulgarian style that will leave an impression on you.

I spent 4 days with a group of friends, renting the whole space - we had the three rooms and enjoyed breakfast and dinner at Lavanda. E-mail and phone communication with our hosts was smooth and friendly, with amazing attention to detail as we organized the trip. The stay itself was just perfect and sets a standard of hospitality that will be very hard to match by anyone. I travel a lot all over the world and have never experienced anything like this anywhere in Bulgaria. From the moment we arrived and were served delightful banana bread with aromatic tea with herbs from the garden, to the very last step we took out of the door, we felt cared for, known, enjoyed and welcomed. Our hosts were friendly, kind, cooked heavenly food, and always knew the right wine to go with our meals. We hiked, danced, played, exercised, laughed, ate amazing local dishes, rested in aromatic clean and comfy rooms, and left truly recharged and connected with nature and our hearts. The ultimate romantic getaway. I usually write very detailed reviews and I am very picky, but in this case, there is not much to say. Everything is just perfect. From the hosts and location to the smell in the rooms and the music in the restaurant.

Note: If traveling through Velingrad, DO NOT follow the GPS directions through Sarnitsa. The road is gone for the last 26km and not in the sense "bad with the odd pothole". I mean not there.
