Location. Location. Location: When you click on the location button to guide you to Omaya Eco Village from the Booking mobile application, it directs you through google map to a road which is only suitable for heavily modified off road vehicles!!! some one needs to either change the route setting of this location or give a fair warning in writing.||||It was only when we where half way there but could not proceed further without the risk of getting stuck or damaging our vehicle that I Omaya Eco Village to double-check the accuracy of their location that they told us to to ignore this rote and take an alternative one (not indicated anywhere in the booking application, website, etc.). We wasted a full hour in the process and valuable fule.||||Free Parking: upon finally reaching our destination we found out that the reason the parking is free was because it is located outside the Omaya Eco village and is literally a mile away from our room! (this point has also been made by other reviewers so feel free to double check). ||||Welcome: At the reception area (which is also the bar and mini restaurant with only two tables inside) the owner/receptionist was waiting for us and was rude to us for no reason (you can check other reviews that complain about the same person and misbehavior) well at least now i know that it was not personal :) when asking her to see the room she demanded that we first hand her over our ID cards and full payment CASH in advance which I found weird, I even spoke my mind and told her “what if we do not like the room?” she said that there is no problem and that we would get a full refund so I agreed. She did Not give us a receipt!||||||The journey to our room: finally we were escorted by an elderly nice lady to see our room which was a mile away. Even If you are the sporty type and think that the distance is not a big deal, rethink the conditions under which we had to get to our room and not only the distance.||||After a couple of hours drive from Sofia to Omaya Eco Village, Try not to slip on the muddy mountain terrain and brake a rib or something while heading to your room Carrying your bags while helping someone else with their bags (say a girlfriend or a spouse), at night with no lights whatsoever other than your own handheld torch if you happen to have one on you, luckily I had one and I was wearing proper shoes. Useful Tips 1- Do not take to much luggage. 2-Wear proper hiking shoes. 3- Have a torch light. 4- Pray it is not raining. 5- Aim for the nearest possible room from the Free Parking. ||||The Room: it was cold. I do not mean that from an interior design point of view, the room was literally freezing. They knew three hours prior to our arrival that we are coming and no one bothered to switch on the heater. No sufficient light anywhere in the room, except in the bathroom, which had no bathrobes or slippers, only the smallest cheapest bottle of shampoo (quantity for one person only). The room was not clean. (these points have also been made by other reviewers so feel free to double check). ||||Free Internet: They claimed Free Internet but in realty there was none, No internet, No mobile coverage in the room and most of the Omaya Eco Village. The booking website states that “Reservation possible without a credit card” they should have stated - reservation and payment impossible by credit card due to No GSM, No internet and No WiFi coverage! Useful tip 1- Carry lots of cash as it is the only way you can pay for your room, food, drinks etc. and the nearest ATM is a 100Km away. Tip 2- Ask about the prices of meals and drinks as they are not mentioned on the limited menu. Tip 3- Bring your own food and beverages. ||||The trap: We decided based on the specific conditions of our room, the negative treatment by the owner/receptionist and the place in general, Not to stay and we asked for our ID cards and money back….she refused and said this can only be done after we contact Booking.com and inform them of our cancelation so we did as we were told.||I spoke to a representative of booking.com whom assured me that they will call the owner/receptionist to cancel the booking Free of Charge (please note that on booking.com it is clearly stated that the majority of the rooms can be canceled for Free) and while I was on hold, they did call her to release the booking but she pretended Not to speak English although they advertised in writing that “English, Greek and Bulgarian are spoken at Omya Eco Village!!!||||The path to freedom: The Booking site did send her the email confirming our Free of charge cancellation (as stated in their booking policy for this “hotel” yet she refused to refund us our money or return our ID cards unless we agree to pay her 200 Euros in cash!!! She was blackmailing us. We were held against our will!!! we could not leave because she held our ID cards, she would not give us back our money and when our patience ran out after an hour of bickering while trying to talk sense to her, she turned to threatening and shouted at us that she was going to call the Police, something that we agreed to immediately, still she would not call the Police, eventually she had to give us back our money but only gave us our ID cards after we followed her instructions to get into our vehicle which was in the “Free Parking” and even then she said that we had to pay her 24 euros (12 euros each) for having viewed her property!!! At night, pitch dark, while raining, because we went to see our room. ||||Conclusion:This is the worst travel/hotel experience that i ever had and for the prices they are charging i would recommend that you Avoid them like the plague. plenty of alternative hotels/spas in neighbouring villages which are better serviced and better value...
Read moreGood product but terrible service. We spent 2 days in December and I must say that I do not recommend this place. It might be nice in the summer, but clearly not in December. We had a voucher and it was nearly impossible to take advantage of it due to the unpleasantness and rudeness of the managing staff. We arrived around 5:30pm after having been in touch with the manager several times throughout the day. After a long walk to get to the actual house (nearly 1km walk in the woods in the dark with a 2 and 4 year old plus a couple trips to get our luggages in) we finally got to our house, a very very cold house, that had probably not been used for several days. Imagine how long it can take to warm a house made of earth... so the night was miserable, they didn't have an extra blanket, and they gave us 4 matches to start a fire. They knew we were coming with kids and the least they could have (for this price which is probably one of the most expensive place in Bulgaria) started the heating in the morning and prepared a nice cosy fire.... Now they say that they can deliver the food to your place, but that's just marketing... make sure you pack hiking boots, lighter, water and things you would expect to take with you to Mount Pirin... you'll need it... Now we were about to check out in the morning, but the weather wasn't to bad so we decided to enjoy the surroundings. This is clearly a one of a kind place, beautifully place, pine and forest, well maintained. The kids loved it so we stayed but decided to go warm up on one of the mineral pools of Gotse Detsev. When we came back, the house had finally warmed up a bit and we're getting really fit with all the walking ;-) Now one bad surprise is that I had used all 4 matches to start the fire the day before and now it was dead... we had called the reception before arriving and they told us they would leave some matches as they finally had found an extra blanket during the day.... Well, they didn't (though they brought the blanket) and so we spend the night without a nice warming fire. We left the next day as planned. What I don't mention is the horrible customer service. The manager is simply rude. Everything is extra (blanket for the kids 50 levs use the chimney =levs, coffee = lev (this is with the included breakfast) - passable food =many levs, etc...)
My recommendation: do not stay there. Go to the Mentor resort next door, you'll be welcomed with a smile, the place and your room will be warm when you check in, the food will be good and won't leave a hole in your wallet, ho and they have animals for the kiddos, they even give you scrap food to feed them... finally you can pay 12 levs per day to spend in the park of Omaya. .. so you would have the best of both worlds...
Maybe this will be...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at Prikazna house in Omaya village. Though we went there open minded despite the recent bad reviews, we left disappointed. As we arrived we were eaten by mosquitos. We decided to take a walk around the estate despite them only to find it wasn't renovated soon. The green areas are kept well but the garden drinking fountains are black with old clay and the water is undrinkable and ruins the otherwise beautiful sights. Here and there, there are boats - some left to rot. The garden furniture is in bad shape too. We decided to give the featherball and the table tennis a go - the featherball was falling a part and it took the staff some time to find an old ball for the table tennis. On our first night the house was a bit cold, so we put on the heating but it managed to get warmer really slowly. The heat is only on and off and once it gets heated there is no way to lower the temperature. On our second night we had a mouse in the room. It had rained the previous night and the water from the tap was unusable even for basic needs. Also some ants had made a nest inside a pot built in the clay and their tunnels are visible. We had to close the mice tunnel with makeshift materials but we heard them clawing all through the night. The food in the restaurant didn't correspond to its price either. There isn't much choice of beer and wine -only lower quality and overpriced. Also the heating is just below the fridge and everything in the pantry gets heated. The staff were friendly, they helped us with luggage, and the location is beautiful, but given our experience our...
