The hotel is just okay. Maybe for a local Bulgarian who has never been elsewhere such as the US, Other Western EU countries, or Asia, they would have given 4-5 stars. But I must say... it's really not up to the 4 stars hotel standard. In the pictures, it does appear to have everything, the pool, the beach, the food, the balcony, the view, the gym, and the spa. So it seems to check all the boxes for a fantastic experience. We booked a week of stay after a wedding thinking we will be having a great stay. The only reason why we have not left early is that we cannot get a refund. Let me explain why: Overall service: You cannot obtain a decent service here if you don't speak the local languages. I speak English. The staff, some of them tried very hard, and most of them are barely trying. We tried booking a gym class, but maybe it's lost in translation, the teacher never showed up and then we were to blame. THE ROOM: It's a decent size and the view was good. We got a sea view room. The carpet is very old, the finishes are very poor. The facets spill water if you turn on to the fullest. The soap is never refilled. Our robes sometimes disappeared. Our fresh towels have stains on them. They don't change your cups unless you put them on the floor. They might not clean your room if you forget to call reception. That melted mini bar chocolate from a different review is still there. THE FOOD: The price is very good, lunch is 30 Lev, Dinner I think it's around 40? But the quality of food is not great if you are used to regular western standards. I can find one out of the 10 to fill my belly with. The breakfast poached egg guy is always very polite, but the poached egg was so poorly poached. It's very frustrating, I end up eating toast and jam because most of the items were just meh... For dinner as well, I usually can find 1 or 2 items that are decent. Try to stick with Balkan food like grilled vegetables, those are usually very good because they make Balkan food the best. I really wish they provide the Balkan bread in the morning rather than trying to be western. Some of the ham tasted sour, like spoiled, I think they left it there for too long. But so far I have not gotten food poisoning, so I am good.
THE SPA: I think the spa is the best part of the hotel. It has 2 dry saunas, and 2 wet saunas,s and quite nice. You will pay €15 in some hotels just to use such facilities. The people who use it are not so nice, no one rinses themselves ( except us) before they enter the pool. Tho that's not somethi ng the hotel can control.
THE GYM: Also, the equipment is the state of the arts! It's not a busy gym, just the class was very poorly managed. If you don't speak the language, good luck with trying to attend one. The gym staff and the teacher barely communicates, and the class teacher was 40 mins late for the class that we booked. Needless to say, we cannot go because another class was supposed to start. I did enjoy some of these protein snacks at the gym. They have a lot of selections. The gym bathroom has this poop smell and often looks like someone wore shoes and stepped on the toilet seats. I would avoid going to that gym restroom if I can.
LOCATION: The hotel is not exactly on Sunny beach, which can be a good thing if you want to stay away from the noise. But coming back from Sunny Beach is always a struggle. The taxi drivers are often trying to scam us ( My hubby speaks Bulgarian), they obviously refuse to use the meter. There isn't Uber, so you end up either having to walk back ( which is about 1+ hour walk but frankly pleasant beach walk) or take the bus that doesn't run frequently to avoid Taxi scamming. All in all, I gave a 2 star because I truly think that the hotel staffs are nice people. They are trying their best. I do think the hotel management can improve to make it up to standard. Lower your expectation to avoid disappointment.
Lastly. NO internet in our room ( only 1 bar wifi if you glue to the front door). The internet in lobby are okay but not stable enough for...
Read moreI recently stayed at this hotel for a three-day getaway, and while there were certainly some enjoyable aspects, the overall experience left much to be desired—especially considering its five-star rating.
Let’s start with the positives. The food was absolutely fantastic—easily the highlight of the entire stay. Every meal was flavorful, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared. The spa facilities were decent, and the gym was actually quite impressive for a hotel—well-equipped and spacious.
However, the charm ends there.
The room setup was shockingly poor. There were no coat hooks or hangers, nowhere to place shoes, and no desk or console beneath the TV—just a single armchair and a minimalist table barely big enough to hold two glasses. The balcony lacked even a basic towel rack. For a hotel that operates year-round and offers spa services, you'd expect better provisions. Instead, we found ourselves returning from the spa each day with wet towels and no replacements.
We asked at the spa for fresh towels, only to be told to contact the front desk—who then informed us they had none available. Over our entire stay, no one came to refresh the towels, take out the trash, or provide the additional hangers we requested on day one.
Customer service at the reception was abysmal. One staff member (as I remember he was named Kamen) seemed more focused on passing responsibility than resolving issues. When pressed for assistance, his response was that his job ended with "passing on the message"—a message, it turns out, that was never delivered. It was only after multiple calls and escalating the issue that housekeeping eventually showed up, apparently alerted directly by the hotel manager, not reception.
In a fully booked five-star hotel, the absence of an on-duty manager to handle escalations is simply unacceptable. This lack of accountability meant we were often bounced between departments with no resolution. We even tried to inquire about group fitness classes, only to be shuffled back and forth between the fitness reception and the main hotel reception—eventually giving up due to the confusion and lack of coordination.
To add to the frustration, we met other guests whose check-in was delayed by two hours because their room hadn’t been cleaned. Our own bed sheets were mismatched, and overall, there seemed to be a serious shortage of linen and basic amenities.
To summarize, while the culinary experience and gym facilities were memorable, the room conditions and service quality were far below expectations. The lack of attention to detail, poor communication, and overall disregard for guest comfort made the stay feel more like a budget experience rather than the premium hospitality one would expect from a five-star...

The rooms are very uncomfortable. There is no place to keep your stuff while you're taking a shower. You have to put everything on the floor. Some smart guests smoke in the rooms without any consequences and the smoke reaches all rooms above. You literally sleep in smoke infested room. There's not even 2 hangers in the wardrobe to put 2 jackets in a room for 2 people! There's no elevated place to put your suitcase, it has to stay on the floor.
They state they renew the mini bar every day, which is NOT true. We drank out water the first day and had to BUY a new bottle because bottled water is paid and noone brought us even a small extra bottle. Am I supposed to go and beg you for everything you promise to do?!? Yes, I did beg you TWICE in the span in 2 days and we were promised water twice!!!! Guess what - GOT NOTHING!!!!
The restaurant is very small, and can't hold even half of the hotel guests. Mind you the hotel wasn't full at all but we didn't have a table the first evening for dinner. Props to the restaurant manager Mustafa that night who managed to bring a table in. He is of course not responsible for the poor planning of the space of the hotel, but took fast actions! Only good experience in the hotel!
The spa can't be called a spa! It's SO loud, Ukrainians who are allowed access to the gym and the spa are going around shouting loudly. There are kids jumping in the pools shouting. There's no way for you to relax. There is no place for the people to sit and relax, except for three armchairs, one small sofa and 10 warm beds that are not enough for the amount of people in the spa. Why do you allow access for outsiders when you can't even fit in the hotel guests?!? It's simply made to earn as much money as possible without thinking of the comfort of the guests. Apparently you're also allowed one towel per day! If you want to go in the morning and in the afternoon again, you are not allowed to use two towels.
The login of the WiFi takes you 10 tries as they have randomly decided which name of the guest to use without notifying you. Although on the one device we finally logged in with one name, at the other device it took us half an hour and multiple failed tries for the same name to finally get accepted. I wouldn't even need to use the WiFi if my phone had a connection everywhere. On the second floor my mobile data was going on and off. It was non-existent in the spa.
Additionally there's no parking. We got one spot in front of the hotel ONLY because our car registration is from the city one of the staff of the hotel...
