Food and Dancing Factory — Hotel in Rodopi

Fantastic family run hotel where you will not want to look at your phone, children will not ask for it either. The place is set up in a beautiful quiet corner of the mountain, from which one could take as short as 1 hour hike and as long as 8 hours to stunning locations in the vicinity. After you leave the highway, the drive is not too tedious (we did it with 3 children at the back ages 0-8). Brilliant entertainment for young and old, from food preparation, to swimming, jumping, reading (superb book selection in Bulgarian), building giant lego structures, etc. Etc. We only stayed 3 nights and just scratched the surface of experiences. The food is divine. If you travelled in the Bulgarian mountains much in summer, you would rate the rooms as luxurious. Thus I rate for them 5/5, but as the name suggests this is a factory where you make good food and dance, it is a place for active rest, it is not a resort where you lounge while being spoon fed 😉 We had brilliant time and cannot...

The hotel was child oriented, however there is not enough supervision and the parents need to be aware that is not young children friendly. One of the theme parties was a foam party that was done on a plastic hill , again no supervision or organization. My daughter fell and another child cut her chin open with a plastic sleight. The hotel never took responsibility for it or made things easier for first aid. I believe that this type of activity needs more employees to supervise it and they should have a nurse available since it creates so many dangers. The hotel owners never took responsibility and promised that this type of activity will be made safer, however I was informed that they still continue to be so inconsiderate and organize the foam party in unsupervised and dangerous way. Positives: The main host / entertainment man was brilliant and excellent with the kids. Made himself available all day to entertain and help. He entertained the children from morning until sun down. As a family run business it is all very relaxed and friendly, everyone is laid back and happy to help. Food amazing fresh, local produce, healthy and home made by hosts mother and relatives.

Negatives: Reception area not clearly marked.( it's the bar area )and daily schedule for Kids not available. Staff not in clearly marked uniforms, therefore if no-one was in the bar we were unsure who to approach. Rooms a little tired in areas, but functional for the purpose to crash out in after a day of fun.

The negatives did not take away the kids enjoyment. Overall I'd rate 4/5 but 5/5 if the negatives were addressed. We would definitely return as the kids...
