Stayed in Govedartsi for 3 nights as part of a Traventuria self-guided walking package "Summits and Lakes of the Rila and Pirin Mountains". The valley is only 20 minutes or so from a moderate sized town, Samakov, but is a world apart, I guess because the road is a long cul-de-sac. A wide, sunny valley, with hills on the north side and a chain of mountain peaks to the south, meadows full of wild flowers, Swallows and Swifts in the air, Storks, Shrikes, even a Corncrake in the fields ... it's a mini-paradise. The hotel is comfortable, clean, simply furnished, and on the southern side, views over the garden and the mountains are wonderful. Food is plentiful and tastes as if it comes straight out of a family kitchen - but varied and interesting too. The owners and staff are unfailingly helpful and obviously proud of their area. Read moreMy friends and I spent a couple of nights at this incredibly charming family run hotel at the edge of the village of Govedartsi. We used this hotel as a base for our day hikes in the Rila mountain - Maliovitsa peak hike, the Seven Rila Lakes hike etc. ||||The family is incredibly warm, welcoming and helpful. I really liked that the place is away from the hustle and bustle of the big resort towns. It is so quiet around, you can relax as if you are really in the mountains of Bulgaria, as opposed to an international 4 star hotel "anywhere Europe or anywhere USA'. ||||The rooms are incredibly practical, clean and comfortable. The kitchen is awesome. Try the local fish - trout (pasturva). It's excellent. But mostly, enjoy the warm hospitality of the family, who is happy to welcome you into their hotel, attend to your needs so you can enjoy your stay and is curious about how your hiking day went, how the weather was.... ||||We had a great time! Highly recommend...
