Stayed here for one night on a recent birding trip to Bulgaria. My first thought on arrival was 'what a pity it's only for one night'. The wooden lodges are set in beautiful gardens full with the sounds of nightingales (at the time of my visit) and in the evening, the calls of the golden jackal. My room, like others, had a woodburning stove, comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. Meals were taken downstairs in the bar and were the best I had while in Bulgaria. Proper English tea was available at breakfast and service was fantastic. ||The mother and daughter who run the Pelican Lodge were good English speakers and so hospitable, even coming out to wave us goodbye as we left! ||The Danube is a pleasant mile walk away and lots of birding sites around Srebana are close at hand. Can't recommend highly enough as a great...

I spent a few days in the Pelican lodge with my wife and some friends to enjoy the wildlife and the great facilities that the place had to offer. I'm also a big fan of photography, and I must say that the setting is ideal for this type of experience. The photos I have from the wildlife are unforgetable. The facilities of the lodge itself are also extremely comfortable, pleasant, cosy, and homey, and the traditional Bulgarian food super tasty. A must visit if you're...

The rooms are good size with TV and Shower Room. Dora Dilchevi is a brillian hostess for the guests. She cooks genuine Bulgarian food - in substantial quantities! For Nature Photographers it is possible to rent hides overlooking a site where birds live and breed. It is also the base for Pandion Nature Tours. Dora is very accommodating when meals are to be taken very early in the morning and dinner a bit later than usual which is ideal for Bird Watchers. A...
