UPDATE: We were there now for the third time and unfortunately the quality of the hotel and food has dropped. On two occasions when we returned to our room, it reaked of cigarette smoke. The balcony door was always closed and this was confusing until we realised it is entering our room through the shower ventilation. After complaining about this, the owner told us that it is most likely due to the ventilation being connected to another room and the smoke is coming from there. Isn't this supposed to be smoke-free rooms?!
On other occasions, when we were inside the room, we couldn't keep the balcony door open as the smoke from the balcony smokers blew into our room. So, with closed balcony door or not, we had smoke stinking smoke in our rooms.
Right next to the hotel is a small business of cutting trees and wood and they made noise for three hours during the day. So it was not possible to enjoy the peaceful nature next to the pool.
The mascarpone dessert, which we always loved, now didn't have the jam inside of it and it was this just a bland creamy dessert. The previously tasty chicken schnitzel is now just average as the 'airy' batter from previous visits is now the standard thick and consistent one. Friendly service and delicious food. This is the second time that we visit this lovely hotel and we'll be back again. They are friendly, helpful, the rooms are beautiful, the swimming pool is crystal clear and the restaurant food is fresh and tasty.
Their mascarpone dessert is scrumptious! I'm They also keep their swimming pool warm by covering it at night. At 10am, the temperature was 26°C whilst the daytime temperature the day...
Read moreA marvelous visit to the 'Странноприемница' restaurant near the Rila Monastery left us completely satisfied! Immersed in the atmosphere of traditional Bulgarian hospitality, we appreciated the authentic decor and excellent service. I would especially like to mention the dishes we tried: lyutenitsa and shashlik. The lyutenitsa was perfectly prepared with a wonderfully balanced mix of tomatoes, peppers, and spices, making it incredibly flavorful and piquant. The shashlik was simply superb—the meat, marinated to perfection, was tender and juicy, with a crispy golden crust, clearly highlighting the chef's expertise. This place is undoubtedly worth a visit for anyone looking for a true Bulgarian...
Read moreBest hotel I've ever been to! Before staying there I read positive reviews but did not think it can actually be so good and even better! We had a bad weather for our stay but this did not make our stay any less special. The rooms are cozy, clean, modern, great view from balcony. It has an amazing tavern downstairs with reasonable prices and great quality. Staff is just superb!!! Had many wonderful chats with different receptionists. They even made a gift for us 'for crap weather' by allowing us to use the sauna (which is amazing, try it!!) for free! This place is just amazing, perfect location in beautiful nature. We even saw deer running around!! Would give this hotel 11 out of...
