Hotel “Markita” — Hotel in Velingrad

Don’t be fooled by the old-ish vibes of this hotel - it’s an amazing place, providing you with relaxation and great attitude by all staff. The rooms are spacious and built exactly as they should be, no overlapping balconies. There are very affordable and pleasant in-house massages, as well as a jacuzzi room, sauna and steam bath. The latter three a quite old at this point, but they still hang in there. The pools are two - one small and one big, both are full with hot mineral water that gets changed every day (as opposed to every month in other places). Smaller pool is warmer and not that deep, while the big one is good for swimming, its about 160cm deep and the water is warm, but not hot. There is an in-house restaurant- if there are enough people they serve breakfast and dinner at a block table, if there are leas people - its a set menu. Of course the block is better. The rooms are well heated, make sure to not overdress as it is very warm inside, and there is a problem with most if not all doors - they have troubles closing well. The two pools outside (one bigger and one smaller) in the inner garden are great and they are open 24 hrs even during the winter. It means you can go out to eat, because their restaurant is not really special except for the pancakes, and then come back to drink your own beer at the pool. If it is not warm enough you can tell them and they will warm it up for you. The service is otherwise good, except for the restaurant, we are always disappointed from there. The place is grey from the outside and looks a bit run down, but once you are in it's much nicer. The rooms are very clean and have several kinds of towels, toiletries and a mini bar. We go there especially when it gets chilly outside, it's super nice to be in the warm pools and this until very late in the night. Just remember to be quiet after 22h ;) Other hotels around look fancier, but their pools are even smaller and close at about 20h, so you won't have much to do in the evening. Really nice family hotel situated near the center of SPA village Velingrad. The hotel offers two nice exterior pools -one big with warm mineral water and a smaller one with hot mineral water which is perfect for kids. The restaurant offers a nice variety of traditional bulgarian homemade meals. The hotel has a sauna, a masseuse, steam room and a jacuzzi. The pricing is very reasonable compared to the other hotels in Velingrad. Staff is also very friendly and helpful.
