Five Stars!! Five Stars in every category. Ambiance, comfort, cleanliness, food, safety, surroundings, .... I experienced one of the greatest times in all my travels around the world while staying at this lovely little hotel in Abidjan. The hostess, Vitrene, and the staff were genuine, gracious, attentive, welcoming, accommodating and friendly. I stayed in the penthouse suite. The bed was comfortable, shower had great water pressure, the rooms were immaculately cleaned and tidied up daily. The food was delicious .. bfast, lunch and dinner. It is a safe, quiet area. A busy road is a couple hundred feet out the front door which makes it easy to catch taxies. I recommend the seafood dish for dinner. The fish is called Captain. It takes like swordfish. Delicious. Mornings were mostly coffee, croissants, eggs, fruit and yoghurt. The A/C worked flawlessly and was relatively quiet. Never made excessive noise at night. The front gate and door were manned 24/7. This hotel and service would do well in any country around the world. Bravo to the owners, manager and staff for making my first trip to Africa a memorable experience. I will stay here again. It is good for families, couples, singles and business people. The manager and owner speak fluent English. Stan Lomas, a Canadian citizen.
Stan Lomas,...
Read moreThis is an unsolicited review. I have stayed 9 nights here and have chosen to return for 2 more in the coming weeks.
The service is world-class; all of the staff (reception, kitchen, housekeeping, doormen) are highly professional, welcoming, thoughtful, and patient. Plenty of English is spoken and Google translate is totally adequate, as well.
The food is very fresh and delicious - you will not find a better variety for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. A wonderful breakfast is included and you can add lunch and/or dinner for a reasonable price.
The grounds are impeccable and you can actually enjoy them because there are bug coils, repellent, and fans all around. The pool is spotless and you can enjoy a daily swim. There is also exercise equipment that is suitable for a short stay, or the hotel has information about a nearby gym.
The neighborhood is safe for walking during the day; it's easy to call Yango (Uber) at night; you can walk to a major big box store for most foreign goods you could think of (toiletries, snacks, drinks).
The hotel works with reliable drivers for easy and fairly-priced airport transfer, so you can arrive and depart worry-free. If you are choosing between a big chain hotel or Villa Mia, it is worth the time in transit to reach this hotel.
Internet is fast; I had a 3-hour Zoom meeting with no problem. The hotel set up a great meeting space for me.
There are also restaurants and art/culture sites in the city that the hotel can direct you, too - they have a thoughtful guide of things to do.
As I read this back, I almost sound like AI. But I'm a real person just looking for a safe and comfortable place while I work here, and I am grateful to all of the Via Mia staff for making my time in Abidjan so smooth, pleasant, and peaceful.
Edit: Just enjoyed 2 additional stays at Villa Mia as I transited through Abidjan. It is well worth the trip from the airport to stay somewhere as comfortable, safe, and welcoming as here. I even got a chance to stay in their Junior Suite, which was exceptional and highly recommended for honeymoons, special occasions and weary travelers - there’s a spacious and lovely balcony and even a bathtub. The meals have been fresh and delicious each day and the hospitality is top-notch. As the guest who may have stayed in Villa Mia the longest in recent months/years, I can continue to say - don’t hesitate -...
Read moreExcellent 3 night stay we had at the Villa Mia, starting and ending with smooth pick up/drop off at airport. The accommodation is not sign posted so you wouldn't have no idea it existed if you got a normal taxi, but most of the time there is security outside the main gate.||When entering the residence it opens up before your eyes and looks much bigger than from the outside. Don't think there are that many rooms available on site, but lack of quantity they make up for in hospitality. Suzanne and Francois are the owners and they done a fantastic job with making our visit to Abidjan a pleasant one. They have helpful friendly staff working around the establishment, good tasty food served day and night, and have a cute pool surrounded by a sprucely displayed garden. Also they can arrange French or English speaking drivers that can give you day tours in Abidjan or Yamoussoukro. ||Rooms are simple African style and equipped with mos netting, fridge, comfy bed, Netflix (not that you would have time), and strong wifi throughout the whole accommodation. Walking outside the local neighbourhood seemed safe at night as my wife and I walked to local restaurants and had no problems.||Most hotels in Abidjan seem to be expensive, but we would recommend going for Villa Mia as you would be properly looked after and they would go that extra mile for you...
