I had the misfortune to stay in the Grand Hotel again for a recent conference, I can honestly say the staff and hotel have got even worse if that were possible. After a long journey I was greeted in my room by a couple of cockroaches scurrying around, although I must say there were more friendly that the front desk staff when I checked in, who were almost zombie like, no smiles or greetings offered.||The same old dour waiters and waitresses are still employed, gladly ignoring all the guests and scowling at requests made. Where the owners have recruited them from I cannot imagine, perhaps the local asylum? I personally witnessed the staff becoming hostile with a guest when he complained over the poor quality of food presented to him. I ate breakfast the first morning, then didn't bother again, the incompetent chefs haven't improved, the fried eggs I ordered were delivered to the table almost raw and swimming in oil, completely inedible unless you want salmonella poisoning, it's almost impossible to get any of the staffs attention, this despite there being more staff than guests the majority of the time, during my stay the water went off for 2 days, one wonders how the catering staff were washing their hands prior to food preparation. ||The hotel emits a sombre almost morgue like a atmosphere, you get the feeling the other guests are also counting down the days until they can leave. A special mention must go out to the tall man who is usually found lounging behind the bar, on a scale of imbeciles he is an 11.||From check-in to check-out a testament to complete...

Read moreAverage hotel. The hotel was renovated recently and the rooms and decor are new .Hotel staff are friendly however they do not speak English too well and it takes a while to explain to them what you need, unless you can speak French. It is centrally located in the office district of Plateau . Entertainment and restaurants are located in Zone 4 which can take anywhere between 20 to 30 mins to reach by car. The Restaurant within the hotel is average and does not serve pork. The Menu is limited and can get boring after repeated visits. Starters + entree + desert + 1 drink at the restaurant could work out to about 25000 CFA per person approx 45USD. There is a Burger king about 10 to 15 mins walk from the hotel and a few other fine dine places which can be as expensive as the restaurant in the Grand Hotel but have a better range...
