Kampot River Residence — Hotel in Kampot

If there was a zero star I would give it zero It cheated out my money.I paid $140 for my family for a small room with mosquitos A day before I went to Kampot we were booking the hotels but the good ones were sold out so we found one that wasn’t too bad (at least from the pictures) which was this hotel, it said there was a swimming pool and breakfast and bunk beds, we checked it in Agoda and said the cheapest room was $43 but added $60 tax which made it $103, it was too expensive so we called their service and asked if there was a house (a house has 2 rooms that are separate,instead of rooms they build houses) and they said there were one Twin villa house left that has two rooms(that were separate) but the same roof) and they said the price for the twin villa was $70 and I said it was not too bad at least from the pictures.So we went to the hotel with really high expectations and we opened the door to the first room and it was small and not from the pictures on the website and the other room was not even been done cleaning and we checked the other room and expected the bunk beds but it was the same as the other room and the foot towels were still from the last guest who stayed here and the sheets were not clean and I saw some insects in the bathroom and I said where’s the pool and saw other houses and the “pool” was basically a 1 meter dirty square sitting place and they haven’t even filled it water It was night and driving to the far jungle wher the residence was located was so scary and dark and it was hard to sleep,the unclean sheets and the hot AC and just everything was just bad It was the next morning and we went the lobby( which was basically a unorganized small office) and we got out our $70 bill and they said $140 please and we said What? and they said $70 for each room and we said on the phone you said a house was $70 not a room was $70 and the owner of the residence (not a hotel) said you didn’t hear it right with your ears and his rude behavior just reminded us that let’s not waste our time here with this man ,just pay the price and never come back here and call it a bad experience We felt so cheated and disappointed and the rooms were worth $14 not $140 This is a not good place to stay .Do not choose to stay here and find other good hotels not this ,you will be cheated and take my warning .Don't come here you will be cheated disrespected disappointed angry and underwhelmed.I’m still not over this and Kampot River...

Hard to describe the feeling, really frustrating, annoying, you can stay at 5 stars hotel better than this stupid resort, not allow to party, barbecue, gathering, or for kid playground, not even in daytime, we couldn’t expect at the night time, there bug and insect, the house are not well build. Insect are easily go into your room also mosquito. Most of room’s wall has hole, Aircon couldn’t make room cool at all, noise are leak between one room to other room easily if you stay in the twin house, they don’t know how to build. ||One more thing is the owner, feel free to feel as a beggar, if you paid the room already you have to obey what the owner said otherwise “get out if you don’t like”. You are not customer you just beggar who beg for their place to stay. ||Even if you had inform them that you have children, they still accept your booking (paid beforehand) and wait until you show up at the resorts and giving out the regulation that you couldn’t accept at all.||Price of the resort is unbelievable, without suitable facilities, no pools ,no barbecue, no relax chairs by the river, only sleep on...

First of all, this hotel is beautiful. It’s right on the river and we were left with a great first impression. |The problem is that it’s a long way out of town, beyond walking distance so everything is a tuk tuk ride away. |There is no sound insulation so we were woken at 5.30 every morning by next doors child. |The showers were cold. |The room wasn’t cleaned once during the three days we were there. |We were a little ill in Kampot and to not have your toilet paper replaced, even when you ask, was dreadful. |Our WiFi didn’t work and when we told them they just said it did.|The staff don’t have an acceptable level of English which made all of the above more frustrating. |There is no pool so there really isn’t anything to do at the hotel. |Breakfast wasn’t great....
