A Bittersweet Stay: Koh Rong Island Resort
While the resort itself offered a pleasant stay with friendly staff, stunning views, and delicious food, the resort's charm lies in its serene location and beautiful surroundings. The pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush greenery create a tranquil atmosphere. The staff's hospitality and the delicious food further enhanced our experience.
Tips for Future Travelers:
Inquire about Hidden Fees: Before booking, clarify any additional charges, especially for transportation to and from the island. Embrace the Natural Beauty: Spend some time exploring the island's stunning beaches and lush forests. Savour the Local Cuisine: Indulge in fresh seafood and other local delicacies at the resort's restaurant. While the hidden fee was a disappointment, the overall experience at the resort was still enjoyable. We hope that future travellers are aware of this additional cost and can plan accordingly.

Upon very fortunately discovering this absolute gem of a guesthouse and restaurant, whilst exploring the villages of Ko Rong, it very quickly became our local.
Not only are the rooms beautiful, the views second to none and the service exceptional (albeit on Island time) but the food is absolutely killer.
This is some of my favourite Khmer food I've ever had and I've lived/visited Cambodia for over a decade now!
The guesthouse is family run and every menu item is made from scratch.
We would eat here if not once, twice daily. My go to was the stir fried home-made satay dish, the sweet and sour curry Mtao(?) and the seafood vermicelli salad.
Though everyone on the menu is smashed out of the park. Though the Khmer dishes are truly exceptional in both their flavour and presentation.
Do yourself a favour and make an adventure of it, come early - stay late. Support a fantastic local business and behold one of the best views in Cambodia!
Amazing work team, can't wait to visit...
Read moreWe had a wonderful time at the Firefly Guesthouse at the end of the year (including a fantastic New Year's Eve watching fireworks from the deck!). The location is just unique: Prek Svay is a small fishing village in a remote are of Koh Rong, and the guesthouse is literally on the sea water. The views are amazing, and the place is beautifully decorated with natural elements such as wood from the beach, shells, wild flowers... The room was large and comfortable, without luxuries but again made with very good taste. Mr Hun and his wife were very kind to us, and their business is an example of socially and environmentally responsible enterprise (Hun has been involved in local efforts to reduce plastic pollution and to improve working opportunities in his community). They offer a short but tasty menu, and Hun went the extra mile and got us some coconuts directly from his palm tree! Totally recommended if you want to experience the island life in an authentic place outside of the main...
