The concept of wilderness luxury, born on the vast savannas of Africa and originating from the primal grandeur of the Great Migration, has found its ultimate interpreter in Asia—Bill Bensley. Hailed as the king of luxury tented camps in Asia, this master designer has redefined the standards of opulence in tented accommodations through masterpieces like the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, Capella Ubud, and Rosewood Luang Prabang. Yet, it is his own brand, Shinta Mani, that truly cements his legendary status—a wilderness retreat so extraordinary that travelers willingly embark on adventures to experience it. True wilderness luxury lies in architecture disappearing into nature and adventure becoming a way of life. From the Four Seasons Golden Triangle, where elephants wander through morning mist, to the rainforest-perched Capella Ubud, and the French colonial elegance blended with Laotian serenity at Rosewood Luang Prabang, each site astonishes with its lavish interpretation of tented living. But Shinta Mani Wild in Cambodia takes it further—with no walls, where nature itself is the boundary, making it perhaps the ultimate destination worth traversing mountains and rivers to reach. Cambodia’s untamed beauty is cradled by emerald mountain ranges on three sides—the misty peaks of Bokor, the depths of the Cardamom Mountains, and the tranquility of Kirirom—nurturing Southeast Asia’s most pristine jungle ecosystem. Nestled at the convergence of three national parks, Shinta Mani Wild embodies the essence of authentic luxury tented camps with its all-inclusive model. As for pricing, SMW stands as the most expensive tented camp I’ve experienced, with calendar rates starting at US$3,000+ per night. Notably, the property enforces a minimum three-night stay and accommodates only two guests (no children under ten; additional guests require a fee), meaning a full experience demands a budget nearing US$10,000. However, a recent limited-time offer of "stay three nights, pay for two" brings the total to around US$6,500+ for three nights, making the value for money far clearer. At the intersection of wilderness and luxury, truly elite tented camps are worlds apart from ordinary glamping. Beyond three meticulously crafted meals a day, they offer unlimited fine wines and bespoke cocktails. From dawn safaris to evening bonfire gatherings, the experience isn’t limited to one or two adventures—multiple daily excursions immerse guests in nature. A 24/7 private butler attends to every detail, while dedicated airport transfers ensure seamless, dignified arrivals and departures. What appears as a simple tent—mere canvas seemingly light enough to scatter in the wind—reveals an entirely different world within. Lavish bedding, antique furnishings, ensuite bathrooms, climate control, and meticulously designed lighting and ventilation reflect uncompromising luxury. Though lacking walls, doors, windows, or locks, security is never compromised. Lesser known is that these luxury tents’ construction costs far surpass expectations—a single eco-conscious tent can cost three times more than a villa of the same size. Exposed to relentless sun and rain, their lifespan often spans just a few years before replacement, an unavoidable reality behind their steep pricing. Thus, top-tier wilderness luxury camps transcend conventional five-star hotel experiences. Their pricing, remote locations, design, and service often outshine traditional hotels—especially when crafted by Bensley’s hand. More than mere vacations, these camps become immersive narratives, infused with the designer’s signature theatricality and artistic tension. For those who seek the extraordinary, Shinta Mani Wild deserves a place on the ultimate travel bucket list.

What an extraordinary holiday. We spent ten unforgettable nights at Shinta Mani Wild for our honeymoon. The setting was nothing short of breathtaking. Nestled deep in the heart of the Cardamom Rainforest, the resort offered a perfect blend of adventure and serenity. Our tent was the epitome of luxury, beautifully designed with exquisite attention to detail. Every day brought new and exciting experiences; from relaxing spa treatments and swims beneath a waterfall, to hikes and exhilarating motorbike rides on anti-poaching patrols. Despite visiting in early June during the rainy season, the weather was largely beautiful and never detracted from our experience. What made our stay truly exceptional, however, was the unparalleled level of service. The entire team went above and beyond to ensure our honeymoon was as special as it could possibly be. From arranging a special popcorn delivery, to organising a seamless day-trip to Six Senses, to surprising us with a stunning bouquet and cake on our final evening - every gesture felt deeply personal and generous. Our heartfelt thanks to our wonderful butler, Sky, whose warmth and care made every day feel effortless. A special mention as well to Laura and Mark, the managers, for their kindness and hospitality, and to the amazing restaurant staff - Dob, Chot, Tenzin, and others - who made every meal a delight. Priti, the head chef, was a miracle worker! She created and cooked a multi-course tasting menu for us every single night - she was formidably impressive, especially given that I don’t eat gluten. Thank you so much for an unforgettable honeymoon. We are immensely grateful for every moment spent at Shinta Mani Wild.

Shinta Mani WILD, without question, redefines the meaning of a luxury wilderness escape. In the heart of the Cardamon Forest, the boutique resort designed by Bill Bensley offers more than just picturesque accommodation and exceptional service. It is an experience where adventure, conservation, and luxury harmoniously intertwine. Each moment is full of surprises - from our butler, Daniel, who guided us on adventures in the wilderness to the immersive culinary experience that introduced us to Cardamom Forest cuisine. A favorite was Bernard's 25KM dinner, where ingredients are locally sourced within a 25 km radius, giving a taste of the forest. The accommodation, named after various aspects of nature, has been thoughtfully created with minimal intervention, letting you be as close to nature as possible without compromising on comfort. We stayed in 'The Birders', a breathtaking tent with views across rain-laden forests and the Raging Sisters River. Relaxation has a new meaning with refined spa treatments utilizing locally sourced medicinal plants, herbs, and spices. We both enjoyed a hot herbal press massage in the forested spa. At Shinta Mani Wild, luxury is not just an aesthetic but a philosophy. I loved the resort's commitment to conservation, which aims to protect the IUCN Red-listed animals and their habitat. Our stay was nothing short of enchanting. There was something magical about being cocooned in our tent with the sounds of the rain and river as company. Shinta Mani WILD is an unforgettable experience.

A Luxury Tented Camp that gives All Inclusive A New Meaning

Shinta Mani Wild (A Bensley Collection) is a truly transcendent experience that left an indelible mark on our souls. An unforgettable luxury ecotourism camp nestled deep within Cambodia's pristine wilderness. From the moment we arrived via the exhilarating zipline over the river, we knew we were in for an adventure unlike any other. What truly elevated this luxury tented camp to sublime heights was the incredible staff and their unwavering commitment to excellence.

This is full on glamping and gives the phrase all inclusive a new meaning ! Included in your room/tent rates is all F&B (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, we had 6 bottles of amazing wines in our tent with unlimited refills if needed.) Unlimited Spa treatments, Unlimited Excursions etc etc.

The dedicated team at Shinta Mani Wild operates like a well-choreographed team, anticipating your every need before you even realize it yourself. Our personal butler, Sarorn was an absolute gem - attentive yet unobtrusive, always there with a warm smile and a wealth of knowledge about the camp and its surroundings.

During our stay, we had the privilege of participating in several activities. The highlight for us was joining the Wildlife Alliance rangers on their anti-poaching patrols. A tough job for a small band of rangers. They were experts in tracking and identifying wildlife. They were simply awe-inspiring. They do a good job of disrupting poachers with the limited resources they have at hand.

And then there was the food – oh, the food! Chef Bernard's creations were nothing short of culinary masterpieces. Each dish was a harmonious blend of locally foraged ingredients, bursting with flavors.

They had a 4-day rotating menu. For dinner, it was like having a Michelin quality tasting menu every night, comparable to any top-tier restaurant.

We were staying for 6 nights. So Chef Bernard wanted to make our last 2 meals a truly unique experience. He wanted to know our favourite ingredients. We love Peanut Butter, Coffee, Eggs. Humble ingredients indeed. And we were dying for Carrot Cake.

On the 5th night, our 3 course dinner was peanut butter themed - salad, main & dessert. For our local cooking class, it was all about eggs. On the 6th night, dinner was coffee themed. And that so delectable carrot cake. Each dish was exceptional. It was finger licking, lip smacking exceptional.

We were celebrating a milestone wedding anniversary. They went all out with a chocolate cake, champagne, a beautiful Anniversary card and a bouquet of wild flowers from the forest. We were deeply touched.

What truly sets Shinta Mani Wild apart, however, is the genuine warmth and camaraderie with every interaction with the staff. From the friendly wave of the groundskeepers to the heartfelt conversations with the managers and staff. They come from diverse backgrounds, regions and different countries. Their dedication to preserving this precious corner of the world was palpable, and it has inspired us to become more conscious travelers.

Shinta Mani Wild is more than just a luxury tented camp - it's a transformative experience that will leave you forever changed, thanks to the wonderful people who pour their hearts and souls into making it a true sanctuary for both guests and nature alike.

We arrived as strangers... And departed as part of an extended family....

With profound gratitude to : Mingma - Camp Manager Sarorn - Bensley Adventure Butler Tenzin - F&B Manager Bernard - Executive Chef Beak Poy - Sous Chef Po - Mixologist Chot, Piseth, James, Tong & others - diligent restaurant staff NG - Spa masseuse Ting Ting - Wellness Anna - Asst Head Butler and many others whom we missed...

Thank you Shinta Mani Wild for a truly magnificent and...
