When you read earlier reviews (I know there is only one here, but there are others on trip advisor) bear in mind the owners changed on late 2018. The new owners are still learning about the resort - and apparently the hotel business. Bear this in mind when reading my comments. The place is in need of a lot of maintenance, some things, like dealing with the plumbing and repairing broken fixtures and fittings needs doing now. Others like making good the paths, most of which need cleaning and re-pointing, I would hope the owners will deal with soon. At the moment Oasis is a bit shabby, but whilst it won’t take long to get it back to a decent state. It will take quite a bit of work.||||The menu seems to have been left over from the previous owners, so even something simple like pancakes are off, as are many main meal items, unless you order early, so someone can go shopping first. As a consequence, many guests go into town to eat. Even after you have paid the $3 tun-tuk fare, it is still cheaper and you have much more choice. We try to walk for exercise and the 40 minute trek into town is easy, but very hot along the roads.||||At the moment the management is a bit chaotic, as the new German owner only has two local women and their mother to help. One of the women speaks some English and seems to be a kind of manager, dealing with clients. The owner cleans the pool - which is very nice, and responds to Guests’ requests to mend things which have stopped working. He also needs to invest in new towels - the old ones are very small, worn and threadbare, although the pool towels are better.||||Rooms have fridges, but as the key needs to be inserted into the room’s slot to turn on the electricity, the contents warm up during the day! Also, whist the rooms are big the furniture is built-in made from concrete. They could do with some furniture like comfy chairs and a table, especially bearing in mind there are much cheaper accommodation options in the centre of town.||||Oasis gets top marks on trip advisor, but bear in mind this refers to the former owners. On the plus side, there is a pool, the gardens are tranquil and the location at the edge of town is quiet.||||On the negative side, the location makes it a hassle getting into town - although the owner will give you a free lift when he is going shopping. The ‘Fawlty Towers’ management and meal arrangements may not suit impatient clients. ||TOP TIP. Go through your bill carefully, we met people who had stayed before us, paid their bill then found out later that is wasn’t accurate - too late to get...
Read moreWe have just returned from this resort, where we spent one night. Disappointing. ||||First of all, since this is the low season the resort was effectively closed down. The restaurant was closed (no breakfast provided, no dinner available). The swimming pool was extremely dirty, with mold and huge worms floating inside. They still charged us 40 USD per room though, and they didn't provide a receipt when asked. ||||To be fair, the rooms were spacious and almost clean (we got two rooms, one of bathrooms' floors was covered in dead flies). BUT the door to both rooms didn't lock from the outside, so we could not lock it when we left. And from inside, you could only lock it using the key which is attached to the device to turn the electricity on in the room - so at night it was quite difficult to lock a door with no light on. There was no hot water in the shower.||||Overall, the resort was quite simple (not the luxury place that the photos suggest), but a) it should not have been open to guests when no services were available and b) it was definitely not worth 40...
Read moreBeen to Koh Kong many times and stayed at Oasis twice, mostly recently 4 nights in February 2018. ||The bungalows and resort are excellent value for the price. Oasis is located slightly out of town close to the rivers and mangroves, which means you can escape the heat dirt and dusty of quirky Koh Kong. ||The infinity pool is a beautiful place to chill. ||The owner Jason is one of the most obliging, informative, kind and helpful people you could hope to meet. Nothing is too much trouble. If you feel any way otherwise, I respectfully suggest you have some issues to deal with that might benefit from some therapy. ||All this adds up to a place that exudes very positive energy. You will leave revived...
