Very disappointed by my stay at the Bong Thom Forest Lodge. There seems to be significant problems after the COVID reopening. The staff seems to be fully new and inexperienced. Let’s start with the most problematic aspect: the listing on hotel.com was just plain wrong. The family lodge was supposed to be 133 sq meters, but in reality it was about half of that. We were supposed to have 3 king beds, but we only had 2 and a small extra bed. The safe had disappeared. The refrigerator was not cooling and the wifi worked approximately 3 hours in total during the 4 days of our stay. Also the listing specified that the Visa card was accepted but the hotel manager refused it and we had to negotiate hard for him to accept. You need to be aware that the hotel is far away from Siam Reap and it takes up to 45 minutes by tuk-tuk to go to the city. At the minimum, I was expecting a quiet stay in the hotel. But, there was a party in the nearby village until 11pm two nights out of four. And we were systematically woken up at 5:30 in the morning by loud music coming from the nearby houses. Lastly, the breakfast was underwhelming. 2 toasts, 2 eggs, 2 mini sausages. No fruit juice. And it took us up to 1 hour and 4 requests to get a coffee. On the positive side, the room looked nice. Probably a remain of the old times before the...
Read moreWell, I have to say I’m very disappointed. We have been to Bong Thom Forest around 6 times in the last 3 months. We have stayed weekends, nights and made day trips.
We always had lunch or dinner, the quality of the food is decent, not great. Recently they are always missing basic things like potato’s or frech fries.
Now, on our latest visit yesterday, we spent $30 on lunch and the afternoon by the pool.
We have never been charged for the pool as we spend money there. That’s the way it is in most resorts in. SR.
Yesterday, as the old manager has left, they insisted on charging us $7.50 for the pool use on top of our food.
That’s a very bad way to do business, especially considering we were the only guests and mostly are.
I asked to remove the charge and the answer from the owners came back saying “not approved.”
I don’t approve that decision and now doubt we will go back again.
It’s a shame. It’s a beautiful resort and I have often promoted it in my blogs, for which they even have a 10% discount.
Management: you need to get your act together. The last thing you want to do is push away...
Read moreI cannot say enough wonderful things about the Bong Thom Forest Lodge! My stay there was like a little slice of heaven. I felt spoiled and pampered the whole time while also feeling connected with nature in this pristine, beautiful place. The forest villas are absolutely beautiful with earthy yet upscale decor and a fantastically relaxing atmosphere. I spent time relaxing in my robe on the front porch overlooking the natural green surroundings, and lounging by the pool where I was literally the only person for several hours. It felt secluded and amazing. The pool was cool and refreshing with a flowing statue fountain and a luxurious oversized bed-style lounger. Plus, an outdoor shower! Inside the cabin the air conditioning was cold and the water was hot. The bed was extremely comfortable, too. On top of that, the food was amazing and the customer service was exceptional, from the time I checked in until the time I checked out happily. I would highly,...
