Evitatelo...

I was disappointed with my experience at this homestay. From the moment we arrived at 8 PM, the host seemed more interested in making money than providing a welcoming experience. Before even offering us dinner, he presented a list of paid activities. We had booked two nights but realized we made a mistake with the dates and decided to stay only one night. We didn’t ask for a refund as it was our error. When we informed him in the morning, he said it was fine but mentioned he couldn’t refund us because the room was still booked for the second night, which we understood. However, when he dropped us off at the airport in the evening, he said he would cancel our booking to get new guests, which felt dishonest.

We also booked an activity with him that did not go as planned. My girlfriend was feeling unwell, so we asked if we could end the activity early and discuss an adjustment in the price. He refused, saying that since we had booked for the whole day, canceling would mean he wouldn’t earn anything for the day. Overall, it felt like the host was more focused on making a profit than providing a good experience for his guests.

Would...

Do not expect to see much nature here. For seeing the nature better spend more time in Angkor forest or Botanical garden. Puok's peasants are nice and friendly. They know how to party and use eco-friendly refillable barrels for potable water (less than 1$ per barrel). Unfortunately, the owner of the homestay doesn't allow his guest to drink the free water, he want them to buy overpriced 1.5 l bottles promoting the plastic pollution of Cambodia. Puok doesn't recycle cans and bottles — he doesn't care, pecunia non olet. One morning the owner made a nasty scandal, that made me very upset. Then he just updated our booking as if we never came and never paid. I assume he systematically cheats booking com that way to maintaine the overvalued rating. And he sold us a terrible tour. Just read the Chong Khneas ferry...

My boyfriend and I had a very enjoyable stay here! It’s a very local and eye opening experience. Breakfast is FREE of charge made fresh daily. For an additional price, we ate dinner with the family- it was great learning more about the daily lives of locals and Cambodian history. Rooms are very comfortable, and we were able to use the common areas. Huge bonus the host offered to give us rides and guide us through tours- this came with an additional fee, but he was very accommodating and had great suggestions (lotus farm was cool!). Very sweet and loving family- def recommend to those looking to get away from the city and experience village living!

We had the best time at Moyharch's place! The room was very clean and cozy. We enjoyed the experience of living on the countryside and interacting with Monyharch, his family and the local people. Monyharch cooked dinner for us at his own restaurant and also served a delicious breakfast in his garden. He showed us around and gave us lots of information about his community and the culture of the Khmer. We also had the chance to visit the local market, the floating village and the pagoda, which was a great experience. We would definitely recommend to stay at Monyharch's place if you would like an authentic taste of the cambodian way of living.

Wonderful experience! We had a cooking class with Monyharch, he took us to his community market where we could try food and bought groceries. Then we headed home in his lovely village and learn a lot about Khmer cuisine and history. This is such a peaceful place, and everyone was so sweet! The food was delicious, the best we’ve had so far in Cambodia. We even had a vegetarian recipe too! A huge thanks to you Harch and your lovely family 🧡
