Villa Dani — Hotel in Siem Reap

This place is still a hidden treasure and perfect for all who||- don't need to be among 10000 other tourists on pub street every night,|- want to dip into Cambodian and Khmer culture and still|- maintain a high (western) level of quality and comfort.||6 km away from the town centre you will find the villa in a newly building neighbourhood among rice fields. The rooms are large with big comfy beds. Having hot shower and possibly air con where most of the neighbours can't afford electricity speaks for itself. There are many more details that show how well thought out this place is given the circumstances. However you should be prepared for some typical Cambodian noises, like heaps of dogs, roosters and the occasional wedding or funeral music starting at 4 a.m. ||Anyway, the best reason to choose this place is its people. As said before Dani is a master Khmer cook. We regretted having had our dinner out in town once. Not to mention all the additional services provided, be it laundry, market orders or buying the onward bus tickets for us. All will be done at the best prices available in town.|| Her German husband Erich can give all advice necessary for tour planning and is absolutely transparent to explain why he suggests this or that. If you have been scammed just once during your trip you will understand how relaxing this can be. It already started when we arrived one day earlier than booked and still had everything we needed with just one call two hours prior to arrival. Also the private tour to the Tonle Sap he organises is scamfree and cheaper than the same tour in town.||Last but not least primary Tuktuk driver (Thun) Boréy can assist you with his very good English to readjust tour plans on the fly and would be a good temple guide himself (he proofed it on the lake) if there was no horrendous corruption to get a licence. You should consider booking him for day trips, we did it and still kept our 50$ p.p/day budget. All inclusive.|| Thanks to all this we had perfect 4 days in Siem Reap. Villa Dani ||offers enjoyable entry into a Cambodia holiday. Linda, Cambodian, Super Super chef, English speaking and Erich, German, very attentive host, who also acts as a flexible guide for Angkor Wat and other excursions, together form an excellent bridge between Western and Asian world.||Large, nice and clean rooms with shower, toilet and well-functioning air conditioning. Although Siem Reap and Angkor Wat can be reached by tuk-tuk in 15 min., the GH is situated in an idyllic rural location.||It was fun to go to the market with Linda and there do the shopping and back home cook our dinner under her guidance.||Linda and Erich anticipated us every wish and helped us actively in organizing our onward journey. We experienced both of them as very sensitive to the guest but also to their country.||Villa Dani is a hot tip for us; we have never eaten so well during our three weeks...

Wir haben tatsächlich 2 Wochen in der Villa Dani gebucht. Nach 4 Monaten in Kambodscha auf dem Fahrrad waren wir auf der Suche nach einer kleinen "Erholung" auf unserer letzten Etappe und wollten von hier aus dann Angkor Wat und seine Tempelanlagen besichtigen. Ein bisschen Sorge hatten wir, ob das mit den 2 Wochen gleich so richtig sein würde. Man weiß ja nie. Aber es war richtig. Wir haben ein großes helles Zimmer, ein riesiges Bett mit Moskitonetz, einen Balkon und Morgens und Abends werden wir mit wunderbaren Leckereien verwöhnt, was vielleicht bei Vegetariern nicht unbedingt ganz einfach in Kambodscha ist. Aber Dani ist eine Zauberin in der Küche und liest uns jeden Wunsch von den Augen ab.||Ich freue mich tatsächlich wieder über die Sauberkeit, ein Bad, in dem einfach alles funktioniert, wo Toilettenpapier keine Frage nach etwas seltsamen ist. Neben all dem ist Erich auch noch ein echter Tempelkenner und hat mit uns eine 1Tagestour gemacht, genau so, dass wir nicht erschlagen waren, hat sich gekümmert um nötige Pausen und die Essensversorgung. Einfach großartig.||Nur Achtung: Dani Villa liegt 6km vom Zentrum Siem Reap entfernt. Für uns genau richtig, aber wer gerne im Trubel sein möchte, der muß hier an die An- und Abfahrten denken. Wir haben das mit dem Fahrrad gemacht, Erich kümmert sich aber auch um ein TukTuk.||Übrigens, das Essen kann man auch bekommen, wenn man hier nicht übernachtet. Es gibt keine Karte, aber es werden mehrere Speisen gekocht und es ist wie eine Art Buffet. Auch für große Gruppen gibt es hier viel Platz unter Palmen zum Relaxen und genießen. Unbedingt vorher...
