Summary: if you’re coming here for an event (be prepared) or coming here as a rich person with privileges you will be okay.
Overall Very disappointed. We made reservations at least 6 months in advance! Our reservation included airport pick up and drop off. The day before we landed, I called the contact number multiple times and no answers! I then sent an email through their website inquiring about our pick up from the airport, no answers. When we landed, of course no one was there to pick us up! I called their contact number MULTIPLE TIMES AND STILL NO ANSWER. I had to hunt down their instagram account to find a complete different number to call, that’s when we got a hold of someone who “had no idea we were coming and/or needed to be picked up”. The story later changed to they emailed me instructions on how to schedule the pick up (this didn’t happen by the way!!) I didn’t get anything from them after my confirmation email. We had to catch a taxi for $100 (US dollars) to reach the hotel. When we finally got our room, the following things were problematic: everything was dirty/dusty! I had to wipe everything down, look at the wipes! The glass shower door was broken! The inner handle of the shower door was broken and missing! We didn’t have hot water! Water from the shower was leaking into the bathroom! And to top it off, our door wouldn’t lock/close. Even when we lock the door from the inside, it can be opened from the outside without a key! We were told it was almost midnight so they will get someone to fix it in the morning. Around 8 am the next day, someone came by to fix the door/key and we were eventually locked out of room. It was about 11AM when the new hostess got annoyed at the other staff about how long it was taking for the door/key to our suite to be fixed and she offered to move us to a new room. We eventually got a new room around noon. The new room did not have some of the things we had in our luxury room, however this room was at least clean, the shower door was functional. However, the shower was still leaking water into the actual bathroom! The single floor towel we had was soaked after each shower!
We didn’t have access to Internet our entire stay. We confirmed with other guests who were here (about 9 people) and they didn’t have internet access either. Free WiFi as an amenity which is a factor in room pricing is only fair if we actually get free WiFi. What disappointed me the most is the constant white “lies” that they’re working to fix it when they know they’re not. Please don’t insult my intelligence. It’s doesn’t take 5 days to fix WiFi issues. This is very frustrating and dangerous for international customers/travelers who depends on WIFI to do basic things like checking in for their flights, communicating with family members, and getting basic map information.
Let’s chat about the good things: 1- Breakfast was good… If you’re a continental American breakfast person, you’re in the wrong continent!! You have rice, spaghetti, eggs, tea (regular & African style), coffee (regular & African style), puff puff, seasoned beans, variety of bread & croissants, omelette bar, and fruits. Be aware that if you have the luxury room with breakfast included, ONE breakfast is included so if you reserved as a party of two or more, you will incur extra charges for the additional breakfast. 2- The staff is very friendly and will do whatever they can to help you with things that aren’t systemic problems such as finding a ride to the market, finding local money exchange, carrying luggage, etc… 3- One stop shop: the hotel has breakfast, a restaurant, pool, bar, and tennis court. So you don’t “need” to go anywhere if you came here to stay on campus or came here for a few days for an event. If you need to do anything outside of the hotel, you will need to hunt down a driver who will most likely charge an arm & leg because they know you really don’t...
Read moreDisappointed by the service and rooms. ||The smell in the rooms was unbearable . They obviously don’t open the doors and windows enough for ventilation hence the rooms are smelling dust and humidity . We had to ask the staff to handle the situation so they sprayed a perfume in the room , which then made the room more stuffy . We had to open the windows and doors ourselves for ventilation . ||||There is also no ventilation in the restrooms . ||The interior design in the hotel as a whole is over saturated , no harmony either with colors , materials , furniture and so on . The sofas are not comfortable . ||They claimed to want to upgrade our « luxury » room for a suite but we never got a feedback on that even though we were not the ones who required for an upgrade . ||||It was also quite surprising that we were forbidden to take pictures in the lobby for memories . ||||Apparently the mandatory checkout time is 12pm and nobody told us that in advance so on the departure day , we were summoned at 12pm to leave the room if we didn’t want to pay an additional 1 hour fee . Lol. I have been to several hotels nationally and internationally, I was never required to pay for that nor was I required to Rush to leave . Besides , they called twice between 12 and 12h30 to add more pressure for us to check out as if we were thieves . ||||Rest assured I will never be a guest to...
