I had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Miazo in Maroua, Cameroon in December, 2006 with friends when we traveled to Africa together for Christmas vacation and leisure. This hotel is located close to the center of Maroua. This luxury hotel has spacious rooms that are tastefully designed and elegantly decorated as well. We stayed there for one night when we visited Cameroon. Our main purpose for flying to Maroua was to go on an animal safari the next day. All the guest rooms of the Hotel Miazo Maroua contain modern and the latest furniture. Their bathrooms are tastefully decorated as well. There is a reception desk with fine hotel and security service available. The rooms have necessary and modern in-room facilities and room service is also available in the hotel. There is excellent dining in the hotel's restaurant. They also accommodate vegetarians. We were very impressed when my friends, their family and I flew in and rode to the hotel where everything was waiting for us dinner wise in the restaurant and our reservations were lined up in order at the front desk as well. Boy talk about efficiency and professionalism! The next day we participated in the major attraction of the city; Waza National Park where we went on an animal safari. We observed wildebeests, hippos, giraffe, ostrich, antelope, gazelle, lions, leopards, buffalo, and herds of elephants, rhinos and birds. We would stay at the Hotel Miazo again if the opportunity...
Read moreSome family members and I stayed at the Hotel Mizao in May on our way to Chad. I would say don't be fooled by the simple outward appearance and the hotel sign. Some of the rooms are luxurious but not quite at the level of the U.S. and what we define as luxury. That is to say that all of the rooms are not carpeted (although mine was). The rooms and the bathrooms are very clean. I found it to be a sweet and quaint hotel; a nice stop over on the way to another country. Some of the rooms we observed could stand renovation as well as the front entrance to match the nicer part of the hotel. My room was VERY nice but I could have done without some of the stuffed animals. Perhaps that room had been stayed in by children. The service was A-1. The food was good and the staff was very friendly and professional. The hotel security service was very accomodating as well. The room service was a positive experience also. Maroua, Cameroon is not that far away from Chad; close to a two-hour drive. I have uploaded a picture of the room I stayed in and the bathroom. I say it is a VERY...
Read moreI really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Miazo in Maroua, Cameroon. The above reviewer was with me, my family and friends when we went. All of her comments were accurate. I just wanted to add the level of professionalism that we experienced there. The service was top notch, whether it was room service, the dinner we ate when we arrived or the breakfast we ate upon leaving for the safari the next morning.||||Maroua, Cameroon is not that far away from the Chad/Cameroon border. Maroua, Cameroon is about an hour and a half drive from Bol, Chad, which isn't far from Mombassa, Chad, which is supposed to be a real tourist attraction. Unfortunately we weren't able to get to Chad. ||||Maroua, Cameroon is mostly a Fulani settlement. The Fulani have a huge respect for beauty. Beauty is considered very important to them. They seemed to be very nice and helpful people as well. The ride to the Waza National Park was wonderful. We were all very relaxed from the comfort of having spent the night at the Hotel Miazo. The beds and rooms were comfortable and the food was very...
