On the Positive side; In my opinion, this is probably one of the best hotels for budget travellers in Yaounde. To get to this hotel easily, ask the driver to get you to Prestige hotel opposite 'Mess des officiers'. The reception staff have adequate working English, but seem more comfortable with French. On both days the reception staff were very helpful. There is access to wireless internet for as long as you are on the lower floors. We stayed on the floor 5, and could not access Internet at anyone time. The rooms are furnished with an AC, a reading desk, Hot shower, a T.V. that broadcasts mostly regional channels. There is a provisional bucket for days when there is no running water. (which I was made to understand is a regular occurrence). There is a mini bar, and a small restaurant that serves 'al carte' dishes. Prices differ from one room to the other, but for the time we were there, cheapest room was 22,880 CFI at an exchange rate of about 1dollar to 500 CFI.||||On the down side, while the carpets would be a good thing, they smell quite stale. The hotel in general has beautiful tiles which in my opinion would work much better just on their own. A touch of paint would renew the...
Read moreThe bad part of the story first. The hotel has very serious water shortage problem and I had constant inconvenience on this aspect. I found this was not only in my room but a general complaint by many of the people staying. I stayed unfortunately for about 8 days in this hotel while attending an International Conference at Yaounde as this hotel was listed in their brochure. In general the hotel is located in a good locality and the small rooms are clean. The hotel staff though friendly can be of little help as for as water supply was concerned and speak very little English, which is another problem. They speak mostly French and you have to try hard to make them understand English. There is a bar and restaurant within the hotel premises with very limited options of food. Considering that the standard of hotels in Yaounde is not comparable to other countries, it is better to look out for 4* hotel if your...
Read moreIt is a restaurant located in the populous neighbourhood of Biyem Assi in Yaounde. Well, it has not taste or particular charm. The rooms are clean nonetheless, but the neighbourhood is noisy. If you want to get a real feel of the capital and see the real people, it is a place to lodge and move around during the day. While the staff are nice, the cuisine is typically local with little or no refinement. On the plus, you have beer brewed in Cameroon by Les Brasserie du Cameroun, Guinness from diageo group or Union Camerounaise des...
