Firstly, the low score is due to the groundskeeper workers (not from Alberta Or Canada Parks but a private company) manner of dealing with families and their aggressive and intimidating approach. I added further description under the cons. Note that this is a great hike to do with families with small children that is close from the city. Just for families visiting this hike, beware of what tables you are using as some are not allowed for anyone who is not a paying customer even when the place is empty. They have rules and as any business you have to follow and respect their policies. The bad part happens when you find businesses that are rude and intimidating specially when you have small children. I’ll start with the positive at Beaver Flat. First, for families with small children, this is an accessible and easy hike to do with the little ones. It can be an interactive hike as you Will be able to show kids the different beaver lodges along the walk 🦫 and maybe you might be lucky to see them swimming and working away ;) The lodges are everywhere and you Will find signs along the hike where you can read some history about beavers and Alberta. Second, there are some small creeks with relaxing sounds and views. So if you have the time, seat and relax for a bit. Third, if you are looking to camp 🏕, Beaver Flat has camping grounds and welcomes camping Beaver Flat is a fun and easy hike for people of all ages. A fun one for families with small children. CONS: Firstly, Not enough tables for hiker visitors to seat to rest or eat their packed snacks or meals. You are not allow to seat in the tables in the camping area (reasonable policy for when campers are present) if you are not a paying customer. The main reason I’m giving this low score is because the individuals working in the property were rude and intimidating with the two families we visited in May 2022. The campground was completely empty with no campers or trailers. It was the Long weekend Monday at around 6:30 PM. There were n trailers other than the one from the couple working there who were also driving their light blue truck. We had small children and we found a table to rest while the kids were having some snacks - not a meal but snacks and water. The groundskeepers approached us in their truck and told us not to eat or seat there. We asked them where we could find a table that will allow us to be with the kids (we needed to change diapers too and there are some tables that you could seat “for free” at the very beginning of the hike but they were up in the hill and we were in our back and needed t rest for a bit. The employees answer was to either pay them for the day -it was 6pm already - or to get up and keep walking or they would kick us out. We apologized and started packing the snacks and getting the kids ready. Their truck came back literally 30 seconds after and they were spying on us to see if we were leaving -while they were driving they just made their engine sound even louder and would stop every 5 seconds while looking at us from the trees. It was a man who approached us and the woman was driving. I don’t remember the name of their company logo on their truck. We will come back but earlier in the day where there will be more people just in case any incident would take place as we didn’t feel safe around those folks.

Beautiful campground. We found the attendants to be overly rule focussed but not with necessarily real rules and overly present which ruined the relaxed atmosphere of camping. First the pros. It’s stunning. The river is beautiful. The sites are nice. The trail around the ponds is amazing. It’s close to moose mountain and hiking trails if you like activities. The bathrooms are very clean. Cons: The attendants. At first they come across as friendly. But as the weekend passes it is actually that fake, passive aggressiveness that as folks in our 40s and 50s who camp a ton, do not need to waste our time with. We would stop our vehicle outside the campsite to drop off or pick up coolers and they would arrive to say “you can’t park there move it”. So many different ways to ask if we are planning to stay there. We had the hazards on. It was obvious we weren’t staying. yelling at our kids to “turn off your flashlights it’s too late” when they were on their way to the bathroom. Telling our kid to bike safer when he was on a straight stretch. They kept motioning us to slow down and I know we go under 15km. They didn’t have wood available after dinner on a Sunday night. We happily drove ourselves to paddy’s flats to buy wood from them so we wouldn’t have to interact and further. And the list goes on. Every time we saw them coming you wondered ”what now”. Maybe it’s fine if you don’t have kids or families who make sounds or are social. But honestly in all of the 20 years we’ve spent camping in kananaskis and surrounding areas this was by far the least enjoyable experience. Will not come back. If you park your trailer and do not leave your site and don’t have friends it’s probably great. Otherwise….. Go to paddys flats or anywhere else.

Beaver Flat Campground in Kanaskis Country is a jewel. The washrooms are the cleanest in the valley. Who hangs flower pots on out houses? Beaver Flat does! Being on the river is the jewel, but to be fair most of the sites are well treed, thus fairly private. The sites are always very clean and tidy. And yes, there are several cool beaver dams to see. I made the mistake of looking at the reviews... You gotta know the negative reviews are likely the problem sites we all hate to be next to. They're kind of sad, as they are, from my experiences completely wrong. Beaver Flat and the staff are perfect. When we need wood etc., the hosts are beyond polite, very personable, in fact they add to the terrific experience. I highly recommend camping there, so quiet and breathtakingly beautiful.

We chose Beaver Flats campground online for its location, proximity to hiking trails, and the number of positive reviews. It was a last minute, hurried decision and one of the best I've ever made.

We'd never been camping in the area before, and had no idea what we were getting into in terms of area, campsite, etc. We were more than pleased with the campsite. It was clean, beautifully maintained, in a lovely location, and right on the river. The sites and the bathrooms were pristine and 11-7 are quiet hours, which made an undisturbed night's sleep both easy and a joy. Everyone we spoke to sang the praises of the place and the excellent hosts and we have to agree.

It's in a great location as well for hiking, seeing Elbow Falls, and just having a lovely base camp from which to explore.

The hosts were amazing, and not only well-informed about the area, but on top of things like detecting and putting out a campfire left burning (which happened in a site next to ours) and very pleasant and hard-working people. We told them that we were new to the area, and they let us know about everything from the nearest local store to the ratings on nearby hiking trails, and all the regulations for the campsite and the area. They travel through the campsite regularly, and always have a friendly word or a wave as they keep on top of requests for firewood and cleaning tasks. They do an amazing job.

I've seen a few negative reviews about the hosts, but I want to state that we saw them deal with several rules violations and they were polite but to the point, very clear as to why the rules are in place, and very firm as to the fact that the rules had to be followed. Given the campfire left burning and how swift they were to deal with it (and left a note explaining why the fire was put out, though the family was gone for hours before coming back) I think some of these complaints are from campers who are not used to having to deal with the consequences of breaking some very basic and clearly posted rules of safety and camping etiquette, and especially not used to having these infractions brought directly to their attention as something in need of immediate correction. I, for one, feel much safer in a campsite where the rules are observed and enforced.

A++ will definitely camp here again, as often...

I recently visited the Beaver Flats campsite in Bragg Creek, Alberta, over the Canada July long weekend with a group of friends. While the natural beauty of the area was exceptional, I am disappointed to share my experience with the campground attendants.

Upon our arrival, we followed the campground's protocol for first-come-first-serve sites and found two sites that suited our group size. The individuals who were leaving those sites were incredibly kind and willingly gave them up to us. We are grateful for their generosity.

However, later in the evening, we were confronted by a campground attendant who claimed to have received multiple complaints about our behavior. Surprisingly, these complaints were unsubstantiated, with no proof or written reports provided. One particular complaint alleged that we were rude and disrespectful to another camper, which is entirely false. We always treat everyone with the utmost respect.

Additionally, the attendant failed to provide details about the remaining complaints, except to mention our initial exploration of the site, which is necessary for selecting a suitable campsite.

What concerned us the most was the attendant's inappropriate and threatening statement. She warned us that the next time she visited our site, it wouldn't be with a complaint but with someone carrying a gun and a badge. Such a statement is entirely unacceptable and completely unnecessary. Threatening violence against any group, especially without valid reason or evidence, is deeply troubling.

I sincerely hope that the campground management takes these matters seriously, conducts a thorough investigation, and addresses the behavior of their attendants. Visitors should feel safe and welcomed while enjoying the natural beauty of this campground.

Overall, the Beaver Flats campsite offers stunning scenery and a peaceful atmosphere, but the unfortunate behavior of the campground attendants marred our experience. I believe it is essential for the management to rectify these issues to ensure a positive and enjoyable camping experience for all visitors.

I encourage everyone to inquire about the measures being taken to address these concerns and promote a safe environment within the campground.

Remember to stay respectful and kind to your fellow campers....
