Not the best experience for us, had a situation where we had a change from two people to four people, the 2nd vehicle being our transportation. Call customer service to let them know that we would have four people, and they would be sleeping in the back of the vehicle because it was a truck with a canopy. Well, because the canopy has the option to become a pop-up, they would not let us park there, but customer service told us something completely different. So don’t rely on customer service for accurate information. I guess you just find out when you get there. They wouldn’t even allow them to park there during the day with the pop-up closed! The only exception was if they bought a campsite in the soft-shell area then they could park there for the day?? Logic? When visiting Lake Louise, it’s complicated. Don’t try booking reservations online for bus system. call the one 800 number right before 7 AM like five minutes before to try to book reservations for the bus transportation. Website is useless. If parking at lake Loise Seems to be that you have to get there before 6:37 AM for parking or wait until 3 or 4 PM when all the day hikers are clearing out to try to get parking at Lake Louise. Would not try to get there and expect parking anytime between 7 and 2 PM. Back to the campground showers were not working. We got a big old discount of six dollars a day and we’re not told until we got there. It would be nice if customer service actually knew what they were talking about or that they would immediately transfer you to the park Grounds to give you accurate information. That’s all I’m asking for so you can plan ahead. Without accurate information it’s frustrating because there’s not usually extra campgrounds that you...

Lake Louise Hard-Sided Campground is a fantastic place to experience the raw beauty of the Canadian Rockies while still enjoying the comfort and safety of a well-managed site. Nestled among towering pine trees with easy access to Lake Louise and the Bow Valley Parkway, it’s a prime location for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature. Wildlife sightings are common, the air is crisp, and the views are absolutely breathtaking.

The campground is well-organized and very clean, with spacious sites, good privacy between campers, and well-maintained washroom and shower facilities. Bear-proof storage, potable water, and firewood stations are all available, and everything is clearly marked. It’s also a hard-sided only campground, which means it’s designed with your safety in mind due to frequent bear activity in the area.

However, there are two notable downsides. First, the shuttle bus service to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake—once a major perk—has been removed. This is a real disappointment, especially during peak season when parking at these iconic destinations is nearly impossible. Be prepared to plan ahead or book alternative transport early.

Second, the proximity of the railway is hard to ignore. Trains pass very close to the campground several times a day and night.

While some may find the sound charming or nostalgic, light sleepers will likely be disturbed.

Bring earplugs or white noise if you’re sensitive to noise.

Despite these drawbacks, Lake Louise Hard-Sided Campground remains one of the best ways to experience Banff National Park up close. With a bit of preparation, it can still offer a truly unforgettable mountain...

This review is not about the campground, its about the level of customer service i got from the staff, We were camping on monday 18th aug , when we got there was no fire wood and i met this park ranger named Juan, not sure how correct the name is but he had an accent , he told me he has to refund me coz they have no firewood so i took the refund and then he said if i manage to find firewood outside i have to buy the permit again, so i said he should check with someone higher up coz usually when this kind of stuff happens we shouldnt have to pay more money coz the firewood is expensive, he got mad and closed the window on my face, i walked away and came back later to see someone else but it was the same guy again, i didnt want to talk to the same guy so i went out to buy firewood and cameback to get the permit, it was juan again, so i asked him to give me 1 day permit he asked me for receipt i didnt have it he told me to go get it ,he closed the window on my face again , i got the receipt came back he charged me $17, the next day i came back early morning to get permit and there was another guy in the kiosk, he told me i dont have to pay and should get a refund 3 to 10 days!! I dont know why juan was holding grudge against me, he sent me to gas station twice when he didnt even need the receipt, he sent everyone the refund but its been 10 days i have not received my refund, i dont know why someone for no reason would do this to u, if u r dont like customer service u r in the wrong place buddy, .if u dont have info talk to someone and collect info instead of holding grudge against...

I’ll start by saying NOTHING can beat the breathtaking experience of going to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake in Alberta! They are truly world class destinations, on par with the most beautiful landmarks around the world. In staying at the hard sided Lake Louise campsite, we hoped to take in some of that tranquility, and gain more time to see the sights. But that was not the case. This campground used to offer a shuttle service to get to the shuttle parking lot at Lake Louise ski Lodge, which is how you get to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake (unless you are willing to get to the very limited parking lot at Lake Louise by about 4 AM). We were informed at check in this has been discontinued. As it is way too far to walk, this left us with no choice, but to unhook and pack everything up and drive the RV up to the ski chalet each day. We did have power and a VERY small approx. 10 x 10‘ space (including a picnic table) to set up a few chairs. There was no fire pit. As a pull-through site, our neighbours trailer was right beside us with about 5 feet to spare, very close and no privacy. There is a main campground road around the loop which is always quite busy, I wouldn’t let kids ride bikes etc. Perhaps the most jarring thing was the train that would pass by at close proximity approximately every hour, it was so loud it would wake us up out of a dead sleep! Interestingly the soft sided campground seemed much nicer, with nice walking paths down to the river.

This was a beautiful campground, but I had to take one star away for a few reasons. First, the train is like the Blues Brothers....how often does it go by? So often you won't even notice.......sort of. Second, the sites are literally next to each other, meaning that one site is actually 2 sites with no buffer in between. Last reason was they have a green shuttle bus that found out no one was registered for the other side of our site and decided to park there every night from 9pm till about 5am. Imagine a big diesel bus pulling about 4' from your window. That aside, the views were astounding and as others have said, close to town and the nearby lakes...Lake Louise and better by far, Moraine Lake. The problem is that they open the registration and you are lucky to get what you get. The areas is breathtaking with lots to see, but overall, this campground is generously a 3 star.
