Have camped here twice during the last 2 summers with a 20 foot trailer and 3 kids.. sites are very well treed and separated from neighboring sites... This is one of the few campsites where you still fell like you are actually camping and not just in a parking lot with other big RVs--has a rustic feel to it... no powered sites... flush toilets and running water in each of the loops of the campground, but the washrooms them selves seem dated with some stalls missing doors and just generally looking old... there is a creek running behind some campsites that is usually dry...1 time we went the bugs were absent, 1 time went the skeeters were pretty bad.... closest campground to the Miette Hot Springs ( a scenic 20 min drive away). No showers in campground, but the prices at the Hot springs are so reasonable we just made it a habit to go there (19 bucks for a family to soak at hot springs). Good chance you will see sheep or some form of wildlife on route to the hot springs.... like other sites in the Park, you need to pay for a fire permit by the day (about 8 bucks per day), and this gives you unlimited wood each day...I have found the staff to be cordial and polite , but not super friendly...If you have a generator, there is an hour and half in the morning you can use it (around b -fast time), and an hour and a half (around supper time), that you can use it... Usually less booked up that the main ones in Jasper (i.e Whistlers)...Overall, we like this campground because we can pull a small trailer there from Edmonton relatively easy, it feels like you are in a forest and not a parking lot, and it is close to the...
Read moreMy friends and I came to this campground at 9:50pm on the 21st hoping there was a spot available after camping plans fell through. While driving up to the kiosk the blinds were quickly pulled down and once we were at the kiosk we could hear people laughing inside. I waited for a few minutes and continued to be ignored. Knocked on the window and drove around to the other side and was just hoping to get some help finding a spot. We were probably ignored for 10 minutes and the girl was very short and quick to say they're closed when she finally came out. Told us to go to overflow camping which wasn't much help since we would've driven towards Jasper anyways. I'm very familiar with the reservation process, QVE, and the kiosk as well since I work for Parks at a campground. The people in the kiosk were very rude to us for absolutely no reason. Seemed to think it was funny as well since they all just hid in the kiosk laughing. I'm not one to write bad reviews but this was just ridiculous. Unfortunately the people in the kiosk that night made a bad first impression of the campground and we won't be going to this campground next time in Jasper because of the lack of professionalism and...
Read morePocahontas is about 25 - 30 minutes outside Jasper town on the Edmonton road. Make sure you stock up on the essentials for your stay because there are no stores nearer than Jasper. There are good clean washrooms/toilets, but no showers. There is a sanitation station in Jasper, close to the RV parking lot, but not easy to find and no fresh water. Sites are basic with no hookups, and it was quite difficult filling our fresh tank because the tap/faucet was too far from the roadway. The main problem, which is no faut of the campground, was the mosquitos - big as sparrows and as voracious as pirhannas! This made it impossible to eat outside, or, to the disappointment of the grandkids, toast marshmallows!||We visited Miete hot springs a couple of times and loved them. The water temperature was a perfect 39 degrees - good for soaking but too warm (and busy) for swimming. We did the fairly strenuous hike that starts at car park to the top of the mountain for superb views, and a blast from the...
