We stayed here 3 times. With regret, our last stay was abysmal.
First off. Basic hospitality: Garbages were full. Bathrooms were not clean. There were many large flying ants inside. I wore my crocs in the shower because it felt like a truck stop.
The cheapest motel would have higher basic standards.
All that is forgivable to us amongst friends. We are not high maintenance guests. But we weren't friends, as I will explain.
The first sign something was off was the lady made us pay up front. She never did that before.
I said hi to one of the girls who live and work there and she pretended I didn't exist. Weird. Awkward. I guess I'm a creep or something.
We had a nice time anyway, as people do on holiday. You make the best of it.
But around 9pm, this mustached guy comes out and starts yelling at us. No introduction. I still don't know who the guy is or what he does at the lodge. He yells that the 3 year old has dropped chips somewhere. As they do. He also yelled, while shaking his finger in my face, that I brought a weeks worth of food. Was he trying to provoke a fight? I did bring a lot of food. That's how I roll. I'd rather have leftovers than have to play the food police. This was a real problem to the finger wagging man.
Maybe he was a drunk guest? I was still giving the hotel the benefit of the doubt. We are easy going people. We made all kinds of excuses for this bad scene on the hotel's behalf.
But the mood was spoiled and decided to put the kids to bed and be quiet.
Now I was quitely sitting in the common room looking at my phone in the dark. Quiet as a church. The owners didn't know I was there.
The lady who checked us in, definitely a part of the hotel, stops my wife, and tells her that our kids (who are in bed), were running up and down the stairs making noise.
I was there, In the dark, quiet as a mouse, and no such thing happened.
The lady then told my wife and another guest that we all had to stay in our rooms going forward.
That sealed it. The hotel hates us. We had some drinks so we couldn't up and leave. We slept and got out of there immediately. Screw breakfast. Who wants to be fed by people who suddenly inexplicably hate you. No way.
As we were leaving Mr. Mustache appears again and tells us never to come back. I laughed. As if we would ever come back to them.
It was 2 weeks ago, and I really thought hard about leaving this review. It wasn't just bad, but a deliberately spoiled stay by the owners. What's the angle? Have they ever stayed in a nice hotel? I don't get what they are trying to do. I feel like they are seeking a bad review for whatever reason. I know the property has been for sale for a long time. Maybe it's the black mold in the pool ceiling? I heard through a freind that the lady hates her job, which is also her life. Is there some benefit in chasing away return customers?
It's not fair to my family, what happened. We didn't deserve that. We are good people. The hotel...

You’re greeted by the cutest and friendliest Border Collie, who will play with you and let you pet him! There are some cows that you can say hi to as well!
The building is a very nice homey feel, and very clean. The woman who helped us was extremely friendly and accommodating.
There is a breakfast that comes with your stay that is made fresh the morning if, and is very tasty I might add!
It was a bit chilly during our stay, so we didn’t spend much time in the patio area, but there is a really nice space in the back you can spend time in, and the pool area is very spacious, clean, and nice!
I would recommend staying here if...
