Site was nice. We liked the wood-bordered tent pad. It was the perfect size for our tent. The pad accommodates tent dimensions up to 12’ by 16’

Although the campground does provide firewood, the firewood sites are uncovered. It had rained at least a day before we arrived, so all the firewood was wet - very difficult to burn! Also they don’t seem to keep it stocked up because all that was left when we arrived were the leftover scraps, until a couple of days later.

Another inconvenience is that they have their “through” lane barricaded off. This means that every time you leave the campground for any reason, you might be waiting in a lineup of cars for 10-15 minutes just to re-enter the campground.

Showers and washrooms are decent. However, the dish-washing sink in our area was in disrepair. The taps were loose and difficult to turn on/off.

At the gate, they told us they are a “highly sought after campground”, which is why they close the through-lane and need to interview every car upon arrival. It seems that the other shortcomings mentioned above may be due to the fact that they are always full anyway, therefore they don’t have to try very hard to please...

We were a large group of 3 families camping at Two Jack main Campground. We had 3 equipped campsites booked.||My first impression of the campground was so-so. There was minimal privacy. You could see the tents next to you (and ofcourse hear them). The trees separating the campsites were sparse. I have camped many times before and almost always our campsites have had thick trees surrounding from atleast 3 sides. ||The bathrooms were good, could have been cleaner though. Bathrooms and drinking water was available not too far (about a minutes walk away)||The area around however, is beautiful. Two Jack Lake and Lake Minnewanka, both are a short drive/hike away. The Park orientation session was short but useful. There had been numerous bear sightings in and around the area so they were very thorough with their instructions.||One drawback was that despite the rule of quiet time between 11pm to 7am, there were people around who were very loud till about 1230am. The Park should ensure that all campers should follow the rules like we did as we wanted to hear the sounds of nature around us instead of people laughing and talking as we...

While researching campgrounds for our 3-week Rockies road trip in August 2018, I became sure of one thing: based on the glowing reviews, I wanted to stay at Two Jack Lakeside. So my wife and I got into battle mode the day the reservations opened, and managed to snatch a site for four nights.

Well, this turned out to be our least liked campground of the trip (out of 5). Here is a rundown of our impressions:

PROS: Small, nowhere near the size of the mega campgrounds elsewhere in Banff and Jasper Location, location, location: yes, it's by a beautiful lake, our kids could safely walk to the lakeshore

CONS: These are some of the least private, most squeezed sites I've ever seen. Now, it's true that some are better (the walk-ins and the few right on the lake), but the inner part of the main loop is crazy. Our site was #67, and it was far from the worst. Bathrooms need to be renovated. One dishwashing sink for the whole loop is not enough. Pretty busy road right by the campground; it won't disturb your sleep, but it will kill any impression you might have of being in the...

We stayed in an Otentik - #48 (I’ll attach a photo of the view from this site) What a cool experience staying in one of these - much more comfortable than a tent! The heater came in clutch on one of the mornings where it was super chilly! To the left is another Otentik which is spaced out perfectly so you can’t really see what’s going on from that site to the right is a tent site with no privacy. 2/3 staff members we interacted with were friendly - the other was a bit rude. I’ve worked in hospitality 10 years and was a little thrown off with that being our first interaction. There was no firewood when we arrived at any of the designated stations in the campground and when we inquired staff said they don’t get deliveries on weekends - we were staying Saturday and Sunday. She also said the Tunnel Mountain Campground had none either. Kind of odd .. so you might want to bring your own - if you don’t want to have to run into town and buy some! Overall it was an awesome experience being lakefront! I feel very lucky to have scored a 2 night last minute cancellation!

The views are absolutely amazing! Only 15 minutes from banff. This site has FREE showers AND fire wood which I was surprised about. They also have running toilets and sinks. Really enjoyed this site and everything it brought. Quiet time is at 11 which sucks but is understandable. The only downside to the site is it is so close together that sites are 10-20 ft apart. The walk up sites are extremely close to the car, maybe a 10-20 second walk which is nice. They have communal cooking areas as well. Most sites fit one tent, and they have specific areas for your tent so you can actually be guaranteed to be able to peg it down. Lots of tree coverage and shade as well. Really loved this site and will definitely be back in the future. Has a lot of perks that you wouldn't expect for a campsite. Bathrooms are also very clean and tidy, hiking trails near by and lake minnewanka is just up the road. Beautiful site and would highly recommend camping here.

Beautiful campsite with the lake right behind the majority of sites. Some sites are a little small if using more than one tent as they are very strict about having tents on the grass, even if the area used to be gravel. Paying per day for unlimited firewood is very nice as you can keep the fire going all day without worrying about the added cost. Restrooms are full service with hot water, flush toilets, and showers. The proximity to Banff, as well as Lake Minnewanka, make it an excellent location for exploring Banff National Park and the rockies, although if possible I'd suggest making the trip in the off season when tourist volumes are lower. Overall, it's a great site, and I'd definitely consider returning.
