Site was nice. We liked the wood-bordered tent pad. It was the perfect size for our tent. The pad accommodates tent dimensions up to 12’ by 16’
Although the campground does provide firewood, the firewood sites are uncovered. It had rained at least a day before we arrived, so all the firewood was wet - very difficult to burn! Also they don’t seem to keep it stocked up because all that was left when we arrived were the leftover scraps, until a couple of days later.
Another inconvenience is that they have their “through” lane barricaded off. This means that every time you leave the campground for any reason, you might be waiting in a lineup of cars for 10-15 minutes just to re-enter the campground.
Showers and washrooms are decent. However, the dish-washing sink in our area was in disrepair. The taps were loose and difficult to turn on/off.
At the gate, they told us they are a “highly sought after campground”, which is why they close the through-lane and need to interview every car upon arrival. It seems that the other shortcomings mentioned above may be due to the fact that they are always full anyway, therefore they don’t have to try very hard to please...
Read moreWe were a large group of 3 families camping at Two Jack main Campground. We had 3 equipped campsites booked.||My first impression of the campground was so-so. There was minimal privacy. You could see the tents next to you (and ofcourse hear them). The trees separating the campsites were sparse. I have camped many times before and almost always our campsites have had thick trees surrounding from atleast 3 sides. ||The bathrooms were good, could have been cleaner though. Bathrooms and drinking water was available not too far (about a minutes walk away)||The area around however, is beautiful. Two Jack Lake and Lake Minnewanka, both are a short drive/hike away. The Park orientation session was short but useful. There had been numerous bear sightings in and around the area so they were very thorough with their instructions.||One drawback was that despite the rule of quiet time between 11pm to 7am, there were people around who were very loud till about 1230am. The Park should ensure that all campers should follow the rules like we did as we wanted to hear the sounds of nature around us instead of people laughing and talking as we...
Read moreWhile researching campgrounds for our 3-week Rockies road trip in August 2018, I became sure of one thing: based on the glowing reviews, I wanted to stay at Two Jack Lakeside. So my wife and I got into battle mode the day the reservations opened, and managed to snatch a site for four nights.
Well, this turned out to be our least liked campground of the trip (out of 5). Here is a rundown of our impressions:
PROS: Small, nowhere near the size of the mega campgrounds elsewhere in Banff and Jasper Location, location, location: yes, it's by a beautiful lake, our kids could safely walk to the lakeshore
CONS: These are some of the least private, most squeezed sites I've ever seen. Now, it's true that some are better (the walk-ins and the few right on the lake), but the inner part of the main loop is crazy. Our site was #67, and it was far from the worst. Bathrooms need to be renovated. One dishwashing sink for the whole loop is not enough. Pretty busy road right by the campground; it won't disturb your sleep, but it will kill any impression you might have of being in the...
