Just be careful with the reviews on Google for this place. Most of them aren't real and are just the owner's family or company using employees/friends to post fake reviews. You can tell because the photos in them are the same ones as those from the Airbnb posting, and the names are all Chinese as is the company/owner. This makes sense as the groundskeeper said it's dead there during the week, was happy we booked for the business, and the Airbnb owner was trying to make deals with me for 5-star Google reviews before we went. It felt like they were struggling a bit. Since it was sold off around COVID, you can tell that its way different than previous owners. Alot of the photos of the place you see online are actually from previous owner, not current. Too much work for one groundskeeper, but they were all super nice, i will give them that. Cottages are updated but they aren't overly clean in the bathroom or anything, and the appliaces are just low grade Temu things that don't work great.. Grounds are a bit of a mess. lots of long grass, dog poop etc. Tons of weeds around the dock. Again, its just a property and location that requires more groundskeeping staff and it can be great. Definitely will need to clear the weeds to launch your boat. Groundskeeper was friendly and helpful, but they nickle and dime you for everything. barbeque $20/day +$60 for the propane tank(but just a small walmart bbq thats super filthy with old food and tons of carbon in the bottom). Firewood $10/night, dogs like $20/day or something per dog. Real pics attached. We had an alright enough time cause we had 2 boats and know the lake. good fishing camp, but can't get around faking...
Read moreWe are 3 days in to our 7 night stay and I'm confident to leave this review now. Cottage was bigger than expected. Very clean, simple and uncluttered which suits our taste.
Can't say enough about Andy who is the go to guy for anything while staying here. He's always making sure everything is to your liking.
The pool is super clean and refreshing on the hot days. There's decent boats for rental if needed or you can dock your own boat for your stay.
Everything is provided except sheets/blankets/towels which is usually the case.
Each cottage has its own picnic table(s) and fire pit. They sell wood for 10 bucks a wheelbarrow full which is cheap. Kitchen well equipped with fridge stove microwave and freezer.
There isn't any AC in the cottages but they are insulated and ours kept cool during the day and was decent with the pedestal fan we brought. BBQ and propane available for $30 a week.
Value for the price was great. The area has a few restaurants, dispensaries and a Valumart within 15 mins drive. Fishing for us wasn't the greatest but the weather was mostly the problem. We saw a bunch of huge fish that just weren't...
Read moreUpdating my review as since I posted it, they did replace our fridge with what appears to be a higher quality, brand new fridge. Thank you! People are friendly.
I do still wish there were more social events here for us to get to know each other better and kids to get together. Would love to be able to rent a fishing boat for the day as i love fishing and it was one of the reasons I moved here.
I also wish there was an option for the place to be winterized so we could stay here year round (especially if rent was a little cheaper for those who stay here for so long) because summer is ending but we currently have no where else to live after summer yet and will be commuting to Peterborough daily for school and really like living on the water.
My other suggestion would be if they had more shelving and storage spaces to help keep the home more organized and less cluttered.
P.S - Bob, the property manager, is awesome and works very hard to make sure all tenants are happy....
