Blue Owl B&B / / Retreat — Hotel in Area A (Baynes Sound)

The Blue Owl is what I’d call a home away from home. This is luxury rustic far beyond anything I could have imagined! Everything we needed was available, including hairdryer, plush house robes, little flashlights and night lights to get you to the bathroom without turning on the lights, fans to move the hot summer air around, propane BBQ, outdoor Adirondack chairs, picnic table and horseshoe toss. My hubby says the mattress was the best part, even better than our own! The place has 2 fridges, work great, and make ice with no problem. The water tastes great, so we just filled our jugs to go day tripping. The kitchen setup is so functional, and most things are within arms length so clean up was a breeze. The living area has a settee that is so comfy with a blanket to get cozy and a reading light handy within reach. The bathroom clawfoot tub is fantastic and yes there is plenty of hot water to fill it. Even though it was hot out, I did use the infrared sauna. Within walking distance is Graham Lake; I will confess it’s the most beautiful lake I’ve ever swam in. Thank you, Julie, for the most quiet and comfortable holiday...

The Blue Owl - perfectly peaceful and quiet! After a hectic few months at work, I was looking for a place to get away from the busyness of every day life and found it here. Everything I could think of was provided, including a Blue Owl blend of coffee! The cottage was spic and span, the bed super comfy and I loved falling asleep and waking to a chorus of bird songs. The sauna and big claw foot bathtub were added luxuries that I thoroughly enjoyed. Julie went out of her way to make sure all my needs were taken care of, even sharing her basil plant with me for my salad! There are many beautiful walking trails through the forests on Denman Island and I felt totally safe walking on my own. Everyone is very friendly, the craft shops contain awesome and funky finds created by local artists, the general store has all the necessities. This cottage is well appointed with a large range of amenities, including a full kitchen, a small sauna, bathtub and good WiFi. Thankfully no TV or cell phone connection, but a wide range of books and CDs are available in the unit, if needed. Julie, the proprietor is very friendly and helpful. She lives about one hundred metres away and is there when needed, but definitely does respect your privacy. We stayed there for two nights, chilled out, regrouped and had a lovely stay. Deer in the field fronting the cottage, the sounds of numerous birds, including a hooting owl, added to the "being in nature" experience.. Note that there are no restaurants nearby, so bring your own supply to make dinner or to have drinks. The queen size bed up in the loft is comfy, but beware of navigating the staircase at night to visit the washroom downstairs. Highly recommended for "being away from it...
