Mixed feelings on this place. Booked for a long weekend, limited options available, of the options available, selected the most appealing motel room available - Ocean View, 1 bed and a couch instead of 2 beds. We were bringing the dog and bikes, so thought it would be nice to have a bit more floor space, and of course the beauty of looking out the window to overlook the marina. When we arrived, we contacted the front desk via text for them to come check us in. In the interim I popped upstairs to check out the room through the windows, and saw a man laying on the bed...seemed strange. When the woman came to the front desk to check us in I let her know we had a booking for room 1. She informed me there was no one checking into room 1 - and gave me the feeling that our reservation had been lost as she struggled to locate our booking. (being that it was a long weekend, the idea of us being stranded without a reservation wasn't a pleasant experience). Once I provided the emailed reservation on my smart phone she was able to locate it - and let me know that they had moved us to room 3....a room with no view, sandwiched between two other rooms, 2 beds, etc. Not what we had intentionally requested, nor were we informed of the change prior to our arrival. We were informed that their daughter was staying in the room we reserved, and that "the renovation wasn't quite finished" in that room. Needless to say we were pretty disappointed with this. The owner was summoned to help with matters...he was the guy laying on the bed upstairs. When we let him know of our disappointment he responded with "it's just a window!" Wrong answer. Anyways....that start to it all unfortunately did leave quite a sour taste in our mouths. But, all that aside - the room was well appointed - with a nice little kitchenette. Dog friendly. Relatively nice grounds. One definite problem though is the hot water. We were warned that you need to let it run "a bit" however, that "bit" was far longer than should be acceptable - particularly when you just want to wash your hands. While washing the dishes the sink was nearly full with cold water before it started to run hot. The on demand hot water system is not effective for this set up. Take it for what you...
Read moreSpare yourself the risk of having your family vacation tainted because the owner Jeff will do that to you.||||We are an Asian family and arrived at this "Resort" during our Sunshine Coast trip to rent a motorboat. My younger brother did the booking and paid online. We had yet to decide on a designated driver. We were all fully licensed adults.|||| When we walked into the office, the "Resort" owner Jeff started making condescending remarks saying he was "Extremely uncomfortable renting the boats to us". Even after I said I will fill out the waiver forms again as the designated driver, he gives us snarky replies, "well that doesn't make me feel any better", and "I am the owner of this resort, YOU have to convince me to rent the boat to you!"||||My family and I are from Vancouver, we have driven rented boats before in Okanagan, I myself have driven boats in Vancouver, Florida and California countless times. Never once had we needed to "convince" anyone we were worthy and capable of driving boats. Mind you, we are renting a 4-6 seater motorboat that does not require a special boating license. ||||After we expressed our concern that he was rude and made us feel unwelcome and we are going somewhere else for boat rentals, Jeff said in front of my entire family and his staff, "Thank god, WHAT A RELIEF!"||||Earlier we saw how friendly he was treating other guests who are caucasian. So we simply had to call him out for what it is, "are you treating us like this just because we are Asian?" Ironically, the man who spent 20 minutes prior repeating countless snarky remarks all of a sudden says "now I feel insulted", and just dove into the cover of his office.||||No visitor (regardless of their ethnicity) should ever need to "convince'' anyone they are worthy and deserving of service. Save yourself the risk of having your trip tainted and go somewhere else. This is not a "resort." The owner's attitude represented more of a...
Read moreYou can't beat the location from a beauty perspective. Right on the water, nestled in the trees and the hosts were amazing. The facility is great and the grounds are very well kept. Prices to rent the motor boats and kayaks are very reasonable too. We stayed in two different cabins during our stay due to availability. We were in #7 for the first night which has just been renovated...me and the kids gave mom the high-five as soon as we entered it as she had made the reservations. View from the deck is right over the water. Cottages are arranged so that you get some decent privacy on the decks..very well thought out. We moved to cabin #10 for the remainder of our stay which is right beside the Chalet (the largest of the cabins and can accommodate a number of guests). #10 was a little older but the deck and hot tub were amazing. The shower was a little small and the single bed and the queen in the same bedroom was a little odd. We were travelling with teenagers so they got the bedroom (with the queen and the single) and mom and dad slept on the pull out in the living room. The pull out has seen better days, but we put the mattress on the floor and that gave us a comfortable sleep. The only caution I would give is that if you are next door to the chalet, keep in mind there will be a lot of people there and requisite late night noise can be a problem. I introduced myself to the family in there when they arrived, so when I had to tell them at 11:45 pm to "take the party inside", they were gracious and accommodating and moved inside very apologetically. Roads to get there are pretty windy so make sure you drive with the people in the back seat in mind. Based on the owners, the location and the value, we'll be heading back for...
