Not my nightmare but should be shared 👇 Remove if not allowed but I don't want anyone else to go through a nightmare like I did, for choosing Camper's Haven for family to stay while they visited
My experience at Campers Haven Campground.
My first concern started as soon as I entered the campground. A very rude women comes out, asks "what I want". No customer service at all, I explained I had booked a glamping cabin through air bnb, Deb then handed me papers and said I had to fill them out. I have never had to do this at any other airbnb and she was also requiring an additional $400 deposit and fees, on top of the $710 I had already paid through airbnb. Deb then would not give me a code for the gate, no idea why, the cabin was booked in my name. I then get to the shed, definitely not a glamping cabin but a literal raw shed with a toilet right beside the bunk beds and just one open unfinished room, the screen was broken and bugs were everywhere. My mom went down to ask to have the screen repaired and was told Deb's husband does not work in the rain! I find it hard to believe you can run a campsite and not work in the rain but okay whatever. Well it took 2 days for the rain to stop, but by this time the shed was filled with bugs, the response I get when I ask about the bug problem. "Well we fixed the screen", yea 2 days later and yet there are still bugs crawling all over us while we sleep. My mom was visiting from Ontario for my son's graduation so I had booked this site for her since she loves the outdoors and camping. Well we go to the grad and when we arrive back to the campground around 10:30, there is no one to open the gate (Deb refused to give us the gate code, even though we are paid customers), so I give the office a call and Deb comes on the phone in a rage screaming and yelling at me. Telling me to "shut up it is her turn to talk." I was in utter disbelief I have never been treated this way in my life, especially by the owner of a business I had just handed over $1000 to. She finally decided to open the gate, after I begged and pleaded to not make my mother (71 years old), neice (12 years old), and daughter (4 years old) walk all the way through the campground from the road in their graduation outfits. The next day I am told I am banned from the campground permanently for causing a disturbance. When all I did was call to ask for the gate to be open at 10:30PM not even that late, quiet time is 11pm. I should have been given a code when I arrived. So now I am no longer allowed to visit my mother that I only see once a year since we live in different province's, paid $1000 for a shed, but not allowed in the park. Deb not only screamed and yelled at me but at my mom as well on different occasions even infront of other guests of the campground (very few guests were here even though it was a long weekend, but after my experience with Deb, I 100% know why). So please do not camp here I would hate for any other family to have to go through this same nightmare. These people have no idea how to treat people let alone run a campground, you can tell since they have taken it over the sites are pretty much empty. 215 sites and maybe 25 people there on Canada Day long weekend. They also say it is a secure campsite but everyone knows the public walking and ATV trails go right through this property. Making it one of the least secure campgrounds...
Read moreThe park was easy to find. It is located Just off of the Trans Canada .Highway (Highway one) west of Golden BC There is no pavement once you leave the hiway but the access road as well as the interior roads are in good condition,. Signage is adequate. Check in was efficient and friendly. The rules are fairly basic.
Our site, 50, was a grass based pull through that was just plenty long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30 amp, water and sewer only) were to the left side. Distancing is very close for a rural park. Some sites had a vegetation privacy barrier. Each site has a small table and a fire pit. Our site was flat and even. Overall the park was sterile. In time when the vegetation matures it will look nicer. .
The park included wifi is basic there is NO cable TV. We did not look for any OTA channels. Satellite should not be difficult. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them clean.
There are no restaurants or stores within easy walking distance but Golden a about a 20 minute drive away where you can find food, shopping and convenience stores. Restaurants etc There is a small camp store on site. We found this park to be an okay overnighter. We paid $57.70 (plus a $3.00 surcharge for using a credit card.) per night and we feel we received fair value. We will be back if in the area again. Lost a star because sites...
