I have to preface my post by saying that I did NOT get the chance to go on the trip, so this is simply a review of the lacking customer service I received last season. Also note that they were perfectly within their rights to say what they said, but given their response, I will certainly be looking elsewhere for future heli-ski trips, as will all my friends who had previously recommended this place. I lost my job on January 2nd, and tore my ACL 2 weeks later requiring surgery. I called GCHS a couple of weeks in advance of my trip to let them know what happened, realizing that most likely there was nothing they could do to help me given I hadn't bought insurance (100% my fault). The woman on the phone told me that my trip was going to be cancelled due to terrible snow conditions and avalanche danger that had kept them shut for over a week, in which case I would get my money back anyways or be able to delay til the following year and that I should wait to hear back. When I didn't hear back, I called and the new person I talked to said that the woman I talked to was not authorized to tell me that, and that my trip was not cancelled. Needing to cancel due to my difficult circumstances anyways, I asked if there was anything they could do to possibly help me by seeing if someone from the previous week who had indeed been cancelled on, might be willing to take my place. Within their rights given the contract I'd signed, they said No, however this is not the type of customer service I'd expect after paying over 15,000 dollars for a trip. They told me my only option was to forfeit the trip, come later that same season (which I obviously couldn't do with an ACL tear) or find someone myself to buy the trip from me. Frustrated, I figured that perhaps I was talking to someone who was just following guidelines and perhaps a manager might be able to help me and have more empathy for my difficult situation. After finding a manager through linkedin and reaching out, I was berated by email for "harassing" them, which I absolutely was not trying to do, I was simply trying to delay my dream ski trip until I could actually enjoy it. They were incredibly inflexible and showed no empathy for my situation and made no effort to help me. I went on to sell the trip at less than a third the price I had paid for it and moved on. While I know they were perfectly within their rights to do and say what they did, their operations team left a terrible impression on me. My friends who recommended them after 4+ experiences have decided they will never go back. I also will take my business elsewhere and I would suggest others do the same. If you do decide to take this trip, I highly suggest travel insurance, as that was my big mistake, one I will...
