This is the largest vehicle-accessible campground in Yoho National Park and it is an embarrassment. Many parts of it are visibly falling apart and maintenance appears nearly non-existent. The bathrooms nearest our campsite were closed the entire time (and from other reviews at least several days prior to our arrival) due to a tree-falling hazard. Does Parks Canada not own a chainsaw? This means almost every other campsite must use the new washroom and shower block. There are several individual shower rooms (this is one of the few good things one can say) but only 2 toilet stalls (in the men’s room) and 2 sinks, the latter with a trickling water pressure. The 2 outside sinks are well-placed for washing up dishes - but there is only ice cold water (from the hot and the cold taps). A park as magnificent as Yoho deserves a better campsite where a camper’s basic needs can be met. The location is very convenient for access to Yoho NP and the Lake Louise area of Banff NP; the trains are noisy at night but ear plugs deal with that...
Read moreScenery is nice. What completely ruined it for us, were the trains. They are constant, loud, and incredibly annoying. Doesn’t matter if it’s night or day. We left after one day, because we had not a single hour without train noises. We are traveling North America for years now, always with tent. Never ever have I experienced anything like this. I would have never expected something like this in a National park, nor have I ever experienced anything like this before. I cannot believe the train noises aren’t mentioned on the official website, at least as a warning for people wanting to sleep in tents, because in an RV you can at least get some stillness when closing the windows/doors. In a tent, there’s nothing you can do when a train comes by at 2-3 in the night and you can’t sleep. All in all, very disappointing, not recommended if you want so...
Read moreLucked out and got a last minute site for this week as our original site in the Takakkaw Falls campground was closed due to bear activity in the area. Best campground ever. Lots of tree cover, quiet, and so beyond beautiful. There’s not a single bad site and all the bathrooms around the campground were actual bathrooms, not outhouses or porta potties. Even from the further end of the campground, you can always hear the river, which I loved. Everything is within a 3-5 minute walk, including the beautiful and new shower house and bathrooms. With lots of hot water!!! Cell reception is iffy, but is not necessary as Field is very close by if you need to check emails, send messages, etc.
Will be staying here for many camping trips to come. My new...
