After 5 years of trying to get into this lodge, our dreams came true! It is hard to put into words what this place offers. Spectacular hiking on all levels right from the lodge is a huge bonus! We were offered 4 nights in the lodge. We came in on the early bus and departed on the late bus to allow for 5 days of hiking. The lodge rooms are very small (Lakeside cabins are at least twice the size). There are two twin beds with impressive storage options to make use of every square inch. There is a mirror on the wall and they provide a carafe of water and two glasses for your use. There is no air conditioning so we slept with the windows open. The lodge room walls are not sound proof so you do here doors shutting and we heard the kitchen early in the morning. Guests are very respectful of quiet hours. There are two bathroom for men/women. With a tub and showers option and two toilets and sinks, I rarely waited more than a few minutes to use the bathroom facilities. There were well taken care of and shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotions were provided. There are gathering areas with couches and a porch that allow for great views of the outdoors. I wished I would have brought a small bag to tote back and forth from the bathroom to the lodge room. The service was absolutely impeccable! Everyone was so friendly and happy to meet your every need. The gourmet food was some of the best I've eaten! Even the trail lunch was gourmet! Tea was a highlight and we made sure to back from hiking each day for that. The owners mix up the seating for meals which allows you to meet more people. We felt like we had been at a luxurious summer camp for adults. We even canoed our last afternoon. This is the finest of any Canadian lodge we have ever stayed at. We hope to get...
Read moreIt is difficult to adequately describe the beauty of Lake O'Hara and the Lodge. If you are reading this review you probably already know that Lake O'Hara Lodge is a remote, off-grid lodge located deep within Yoho National Park in the Canadian Rockies, miles from the nearest paved road. Fortunately, Parks Canada is limiting the access to this pristine area. The result is that securing a reservation at Lake O'Hara Lodge has become difficult but prized. Some preference is given to returning guests. ||In late September, my wife and I were able to snag a late season return reservation for a lakeside cabin. We arrived at the designated parking lot just off TransCanada Hwy 1 in gently falling snow. By the time we arrived up at the Lodge by private bus, it was a winter wonderland.||The Lodge owners, Bruce and Alison, have done an amazing job of creating a spectacular destination for hikers in an incomparable location. The accommodations are rustic but charming and spotlessly clean. The food is 5 star and the fellowship with other hiking enthusiasts is what make the Lodge so unique. Of all our travels, the Lake O'Hara Lodge has become quite simply our favorite destination.||The Jones...
Read moreDining: food was excellent and plentiful, but some obvious choices were not asked; like would you like your beef tenderloin rare medium or well done. Service was prompt and friendly. Only one dining option each night, except for people with food allergies or celiac disease. One can have wine or beer with dinner at an extra cost. During our stay, the only cocktail available was the Pisco sour, which was fine for us. Lunch can be eaten in the lodge or taken as a bag lunch for hiking.||||Resort: beautiful scenery and fantastic hiking on your doorstep. Friendly and helpful staff. Log cabin was very clean and set up well with furniture. Bathroom was modern. We had a cabin with a king bed and a single bed. All visitor cabins are log cabins, but there is also something called a guide cabin that we did not see. The cabin has electric heating and stayed at a comfortable temperature. We had enough sockets for charging our gadgets. The lodge has a small supply of used hiking gear stored in a heated shed for people to use if they need. There is no wifi or cellular...
